Last night the Hornets faced off against the Philadelphia 76ers and the game needed extra minutes to be decided in their 3rd matchup of the season. The 76ers took the W 122-119. The newest member of the Sixers, Jimmy Butler was the crucial contributor in the final seconds of the game. He came up big with a block against Charlotte’s star PG with just under 20 seconds left in Overtime. With the game tied and 11 seconds on the clock, Philadelphia had possession of the ball. Butler, as time expires, sinks a 3 to seal the victory for the Sixers. The loss drops the Hornets to a 7-8 record on the year.

The loss somewhat spoils the marvelous effort put in by the Charlotte PG, who scored 60 in the losing battle. Not only is 60 the top number for points scored this season in the NBA thus far, it is the most points scored in Charlotte Hornets history for a single game. If it wasn’t already decided before, I feel that this game solidified Walker’s status as the best Hornets player of all time. Even though the Hornets lost, it showed that the Hornets are never out of a game when they have a healthy Kemba Walker on the court. Last night, Kemba joined a prestigious list of only 25 players in the history of the NBA to score 60 or more in a game. If the Hornets continue their reliance on the PG, we may see another 60-point effort by the end of the season.
