NHL DraftKings for 12/16/2018
The 3 featured games for tonight’s NHL DraftKings:
San Jose @ Chicago 7 PM
Tampa Bay @ Winnipeg 7PM
Edmonton @ Vancouver 10PM
Obviously the must watch game here is Tampa vs Winnipeg. Tampa Bay currently sit in first place in all of the NHL with 51 points and Winnipeg are tied for 2nd in all of the western conference with 44 points. Also some other game where we get to see stars like McDavid, Kane and Karlsson.
Center: At the 2 center spots I’m taking Logan Couture and Jonathan Toews. I think Couture is the obvious pick at the center spot for tonight’s slate of games. Chicago continues to be a dumpster fire on defense. The Blackhawks haven’t held a team to under 3 goals in their last 13 games, since November 18th against Minnesota. The Blackhawks rank in the 27th spot against opposing centers so I’ll take San Jose’s top center at $6,400. My other center I’m going with Toews. Despite the Blackhawks dynasty finally crashing down, Toews has had a bounce back year. He’s tallied 30 pts in 34 games and has 16 goals so far. He’s also got 6 points in his last 2 games so i’m going to ride that momentum at $4,900.
Wings: At the wing spot give me Patick Laine, Tyler Johnson and Kevin Labanc. Do I even have to explain myself on Laine? The guy has scored 23 goals in 32 games which is 2nd best in the league at the moment. The obvious downside is that you know you’re not getting any points from Laine in assists. To play on one of the top 2 lines and only have 6 assists in 32 games is almost impressive. Be less of a team player, you can’t. But I’m betting on his scoring tonight at $6,600. Johnson at $4,900 and Lebanc at $3,600 are both value plays. Gotta have somebody in my line-up from the best team in hockey who is also having a solid season and Lebanc, as I’ve already stated goes up against the Blackhawks defense. The Blackhawks are actually the #1 match up for wingers so far this season.
Defenders: At defense I’m going with some more cheap options to save some money for my last 2 picks. I’m going with Alexander Edler at $4,600 and Carl Dahlstrom at $3,000. Edler has been pretty solid so far this season averaging a point every other game and 3.5 FPPG, which is just .1 lower than Karlsson who is priced $1,600 more. Dahlstrom on the other hand only got called up by the Blackhawks this week and he has an assist in each of his 2 games. Crossing my fingers that these 2 can produce something tonight.
Goalie: In goal I’m going with Martin Jones at $7,900. The 2nd most expensive goalie in tonight’s match-ups. Jones hasn’t played since Thursday so I fully expect he will be the starter in goal for San Jose tonight. Jones has averaged 4 FPPG this year and in his last 5 games he’s been on a heater averaging 6.5 points. You have to love this match up for San Jose who should outclass the Blackhawks tonight.
Utility: LOL you thought I was going to just leave Connor McDavid out of my lineup or even this blog?! I said that Martin Jones was on a heater as of late but that doesn’t even begin to describe the streak that McDavid is on. 12 points in his last 5 games. Those are Wayne Gretzky numbers, granted he kept it up the entire season. McDavid has 48 points in 32 games and just continues to prove night in and night out what a talent he is. Oilers have been rolling as result too and are 8-1-1 in their last 10. McDavid at $7,800 against Vancouver is practically free. You’d be stealing money from yourself if you pass on him tonight.
