Thanny's Thoughts: Saturday NFL Divisional Round

So I had a pretty good week in the wildcard round last weekend. I ended up going 3-0 with the Colts, Chargers and Eagles, and of course the Cowboys and Seahawks game ended in a push. I’m starting to get on a heater here at the end of the season and I just have a couple things to say about that. First, it’s about damn time. Second, I don’t suspect this will last too long so beware.

At Kansas City Chiefs -5.5 vs Indianapolis Colts, 4:35 PM

The first game of the week and it’s probably the game I’m looking forward to the most other than the Pats game of course. The Colts might just be the hottest team in the NFL, having won 10 out of their last 11 games. I said it last week and I’ll say it again, Luck would be my pick for MVP over Mahomes or Brees and he lived up to that comment in that game against the Texans. Now the question is will he live up to that comment against the likely eventual award winner, Mahomes? I going to go with the Colts in this game at +5.5 but I also will say that I like the Colts to win this game straight up. The Chiefs are the team that can never seem to get over the hump in the playoffs, granted Mahomes is the type of QB that can lead them over that hump, and with their major weakness being their defense, I could easily see this great season that they’ve had where they’re managed to get the #1 seed in the playoffs and home field advantage come crashing to an end in their first game of the playoffs. So there you have it, give me Luck and the Indianapolis Colts. I’m riding that train as long as it lasts. Also I heard their is a chance for some snow in this game. I don’t know if that’s true but I sure hope it is.

At Los Angeles Ram -7 vs Dallas Cowboys, 8:15 PM

The Cowboys are the one prediction last week that I didn’t get right. While a late touchdown and 2 pt conversion by the Seahawks lead to a push against the spread, I was wrong when I suggested that the Seahawks would win by more than a touchdown. Well you guessed it right, I’m sticking with my guns again this week and saying that the Cowboys will lose by more than a touchdown. The only person that impressed me for the Cowboys last week was Ezekiel Elliot, so if the Rams can shutdown the run game, which they should be able to do with that defensive line, they essentially shutdown the Cowboys offense. Again, I don’t trust Dak Prescott and I hate the Cowboys but I’m slightly enjoying him performing well because I know there’s a zero % chance they can actually win the Superbowl and this will just lead to Jerry Jones signing Prescott to a huge long-term deal that will hinder any chance of the Cowboys being good going forward. As far as the Rams go, I feel a lot of people will be in the Cowboys this week due to the Rams recent run of play, but that just means it’s the ultimate time to jump on the Rams. Vegas always knows what they’re doing so they lure people in with this big spread to bet on the underdog only for the Rams to win this game by 2 TDs. Give me the Rams at -7, the game won’t be close.
