Antonio Brown is Making a Fool of Himself

What a season it has been for the Pittsburgh Steelers.  First, their star running back refuses to play a single snap, they miss the playoffs with a late season collapse, and now their star receiver is wanting to be traded.  I have no problem calling him a star, because he is without a doubt one of the best receivers in the game.  But that’s about the only good thing I have to say about him anymore.  Like so many other professional athletes, Antonio Brown is the latest to whine like a spoiled little kid when everything doesn’t go his way.

In case you missed it, the Pittsburgh Steelers had a huge game this past Sunday.  They needed to win and have the Ravens lose to clinch a spot in the playoffs.  You would think that would motivate all their players to want to come out and play their best game.  Not Antonio Brown.  While he was listed on the injury report, it has become known that he wasn’t actually injured.  Apparently he got into a dispute with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in practice during the week, threw a football at him, and yelled, “I’m done,” and walked out of practice.  He then skipped Saturday’s walkthrough and sat out Sunday’s big game.  Now it has been reported that Brown is demanding a trade from the Steelers.

While these antics are bad enough, this isn’t the first time Antonio Brown has portrayed himself in an “all-about-me” light.  Former Steeler Ryan Clark recalls when he almost got into a fight with Brown one time at practice because he kept screaming at one of the Steeler coaches saying, “Don’t touch me, I’m the franchise.”  Another time during a team meeting after a playoff game when coach Mike Tomlin was warning the players to watch themselves on social media, Antonio Brown was Facebook-living in the middle of it.  The Steelers have not done anything to Brown, which puts a lot of the fault on them.  No punishments whatsoever for Brown.  Today during Mike Tomlin’s press-conference, Brown was with former Steeler James Harrison, who has been critical of Mike Tomlin, to film themselves saying they will release a “big interview,” where they will be sure to bash Tomlin and the Steelers.  Whatever it is they are planning to release will no doubt continue to paint Brown in a foolish light.

One of my biggest questions now is what team would want to sign Antonio Brown?  I don’t care that he’s a top 3 receiver in the game.  If he’s a locker room cancer that cancels all of that out.  He flat out quit on his team before a crucial game.  Is that the kind of player teams want?  Is that the kind of player we celebrate as sports fans here in America?  What it is that Brown wants?  He’s getting payed millions of dollars to play a game for a living and pretty much be worshipped the entire time.  I really don’t understand these professional athletes who always want more and more, and when something doesn’t go their way, just quit.  Quit on their teammates, coaches, fans, etc.  It’s become too common and too accepted.  It would be wonderful if no teams decided to pick him up and Brown’s career was over because of his childish actions.  But the fact of the matter is he will find another team to pay him millions of dollars because if you are a famous superstar in this country, you can get whatever you want.  That’s America baby!
