Love or hate Tony Romo in the booth, it’s somewhat divided, that clip above is incredibly impressive. Romo has been in the booth for the past 2 seasons since retiring and he’s taken the NFL commentating world by storm. I would say that the majority of people love Romo’s commentating while the few that hate it, really hate it. I’m personally a fan, but I can admit that he can be annoying at times like when he says “I don’t know, Jim” or “Ehhhhhhh maybe, Jim”, a hundred times a game. We get it, Jim Nantz’s name is Jim, you don’t have to say it over and over after every statement you make. But hands down the most impressive part of Romo’s commentating is his ability to foreshadow plays. It’s not like he’s 50/50 on guessing plays, it seems that he hits the mark every single time. No joke, he has to be batting at least .800-.900 with his play calling, or at least it seems. I always kind of joked about Tony Romo the quarterback because even though he was good, he always came up short. But since he’s moved to the booth I’ve gained tremendous respect for him and his footballing mind. I mean he is a football genius and I don’t think there is any other way about it. The real question is when is this man brought on by a team to be a coach? I don’t think he would get a head coaching job right from the start, but you never know with the way NFL coaching is going. I mean if Kliff Kingsbury can get a job after being fired from Texas Tech then I’m pretty sure Romo would be qualified. If not a head coach then maybe some type of defensive specialist role. I know the man was a quarterback and played offense but that’s what would make him such a great addition to the defense is his ability to know what’s coming. If Romo ever decides to ditch the booth, I’m sure he will have no problem finding a coaching gig.
