Thanny's Thoughts: Saturday NFL Wild Card Round
Alright, so I didn’t make it around to posting my picks last week for week 17 and believe it or not, which I’m sure you want, I actually went 11-5 in the pool that I’m in. So it makes perfect sense that I started out the season picking great and by the time I started writing Thanny’s Thoughts I go ice cold for weeks on end and then last week when it’s not all out there for the internet world to see I go 11-5. So if that tells you anything, might want to fade all four of my picks for the Wild Card Weekend. But lets at least see how Saturday goes first.
At Houston Texans -1.5 vs Indianapolis Colts, 4:35 PM
The first game of the 2018 season playoffs and I think I’m going to go with an upset in this one. I’m kind of surprised that the spread is this low for the Texans, but at the same time both games between these divisional opponents throughout the year was extremely close. The first game the Texans won 37-34 in OT and their most recent matchup the Colts won 24-21. So based off these results, we should expect a really close game that should go either way. I’m taking the Indianapolis Colts in this one because I’m a huge believer in Andrew Luck. I remember debating some people at work back in preseason about how I would rather have Andrew Luck over Cam Newton at quarterback. Of course being that we are in Charlotte most people were saying that Cam is the better choice over Luck but that’s also because we hadn’t seen Luck play in almost 2 yrs. LMAO imagine thinking Cam Newton is better than Luck. Well Luck came back better than ever and in my honest opinion forget Mahomes or Brees, if you want the actual “Most Valuable Player” to their team it is 100% Andrew Luck.
At Dallas Cowboys -2 vs Seattle Seahawks, 8:15 PM
Another pretty good spread hear by Vegas. In actuality I think that this Dallas team is a bunch of frauds. Well, I think their offense is at least. And that is why I’m leaning towards Seattle in this game. Seattle 100% has the upper hand in this game at quarterback. Russell Wilson is a quarterback that can carry his team to victory no matter how bad the defense is playing. Dak on the other hand definitely needs the rest of the Cowboys team to show up to have a chance in this game. The Cowboys and Seahawks met in week 3 of the regular season and Seattle won that game 24-13, but I wouldn’t put too much into that game because a lot has changed since week 3 in the NFL season. I’m actually not even expecting this game to even be close. I like the Seahawks to win by 7-10 points. The only thing that I’m scared of is picking against a team that I absolutely despise and in someway jinxing the Seahawks.
