Nick Foles Continues To Put The Eagles In A Tough Spot

At what point can the Eagles no longer ignore that Nick Foles might be the better option going forward? Does it take another trip to the NFC Championship game, or even the Superbowl? Last night, it was Cody Parkey who let down all Bears fans and allowed for the Nick Foles run in Philadelphia to continue. Against arguably the best defense in the league Nick Foles put up decent numbers with 266 yds, 2 TD’s and 2 Ints. His best moment though was being as clutch as ever and leading the Eagles down the field to score a touchdown on 4th and goal with less than a minute to play. Nick Foles continues to show up when it matters, and that’s probably the most important aspect in a QB. Think about how great he’s been in the last calendar year with the Eagles. The 3 game run in the 2017 playoffs to win the Superbowl, the 3 games at the end of this season to miraculously make the playoffs and now 1-0 in this year’s playoffs against the defensive juggernaut, 3 seed Bears. Where will it end?!

That’s an incredible run for any QB, which begs the questions at what point are the Eagles better off with Foles as their QB going forward? Think about how crazy a thought like that would have been last year at this time. Wentz was on his way to picking up the NFL MVP award last year before tearing his ACL in early December which ended his season. We all know the story, Foles comes in and saves the day and wins Philly their first Super Bowl. Then Wentz is injured again this year, apparently not even bad enough to where he can’t play but the Eagles sit him because they think their season is over. Not only does Foles reel off 3 straight but has got the Eagles into the 2nd round of the playoffs. The two biggest arguments against Foles is that he’s older and probably not as talented. But honestly I could care less about talent, because I’ve seen all that I need to to say that Foles is probably top 5 QB that I would trust to win a playoff game right now. Then as far as age goes Foles isn’t as old as you would seem to think, he is 29 turning 30 in 2 weeks and Wentz just turned 26 in December, so he is essentially 4 yrs older.

If the Eagles were to try to trade Wentz they would definitely get a huge return, i’d expect at least two first rd picks. If Mack returned two 1st(which he was worth) and Amari Cooper returned a 1st, then some team definitely offers at least 2 for Wentz. Not only could he provide a huge return for the Eagles but they’d also be getting rid of a quarterback who definitely has some questions surrounding him. Can he stay healthy?? This is Wentz 3rd season in the NFL and 2 of them have been cut short due to injury. Wentz also has just 2 yrs left on his rookie deal and I’m sure he’s getting the biggest contract possible come that time. Foles on the other hand could be had probably relatively cheap for a Superbowl MVP QB and considering his willingness to stick in Philly. Again, I’m not saying that the Eagles should get rid of Wentz and go with Foles after this season, but you can’t deny that the way Foles is playing is at least making it a possibility. There’s just something unexplainable about Foles late in the season in an Eagles jersey.
