Song of the Day: Lean on Me

We’re starting your week off with a classic from Bill Withers. As soon as the piano plays the first note, you instantly recognize the song. “Lean on Me” has a great message and carries a great tune. It was released in 1972 on Bill’s second album, titled Still Bill. It went on to reach great success as it went all the way to #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, was ranked as the 7th best song of 1972 by Billboard, and was named the 208th greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone. Another, more up-tempo version, was released in 1987 by the band Club Nouveau that also reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but the slower original is the best version in my opinion.
