AEW Power Rankings: Week of November 1st

AEW continues to be great television and each show brings on something new. This week, the goal was to focus on the upcoming PPV, Full Gear, and to settle who the new tag team champs might be. It’s going to be an interesting show next week in our neck of the woods. Dynamite is going to be in Charlotte and there are still tickets available, so you don’t want to miss out on the action. You might even see myself, Randy, and Garett at the event, which would be a treat in itself. The show seemingly gets better each week and it looks like we are starting to see them getting settled in. Their first month on TV has been a huge success and hopefully things will continue to go in the right direction. Here are my Power Rankings for this week’s action.

-      5: Hangman Adam Page

Hangman and Sammy Guevara kicked off Dynamite and put on a good match. In a promotion that emphasizes wins and losses, I felt that neither competitor could handle another loss, especially this early on. Hangman winning totally helps him moving forward, but Guevara took the loss and goes a little further down the line. Guevara, however, does benefit from being in the most popular group on the roster, so he shouldn’t stay down for very long.

-      4: Hikaru Shida

It was good to see Hikaru Shida finally in action on Dynamite. She competed at Double or Nothing and All Out and I thought she was very impressive in both of those matches. She faced Shanna on Wednesday and the match was great. Shanna was another competitor that was making her Dynamite debut and I really liked what I saw from her too.

-      3: Jon Moxley

This is the Jon Moxley that I want to see from here to eternity. The first thing that popped out to me was his intensity. This promo was intensity to the max and I’m glad we are finally seeing this character without a cap like he had in WWE. His match with Kenny Omega at Fully Gear should be an awesome bout and I’m glad they didn’t discard it after Moxley was out of action.

-      2: Inner Circle

I was only going to put Jericho here, but I thought the whole group had enough of an impact to warrant the number 2 ranking. Jericho is still awesome at promoting a match and his group is a force to be reckoned with. Ortiz and Santana made a huge impact by attacking Rock and Roll Express, who were the presenters of the AEW Tag Team Championship. Then Jake Hager made an appearance by attacking Dustin Rhodes. It was another big week for the Inner Circle and expect more to come.

-      1: SoCal Uncensored

Number one couldn’t be anyone other than SCU. I didn’t expect them to win, but looking at the situation, it makes perfect sense. If you guys remember correctly, Christopher Daniels was taken out of action before their first match in the tournament by Lucha Bros. I totally forgot that Fenix and Pentagon Jr. attacked Daniels and knowing that now is just a key example of subtle storytelling from AEW. Great job AEW and congrats to the inaugural champs.
