AEW Power Rankings: Week of November 15th

Alright, the first AEW PPV since Dynamite has come and gone and the Dynamite afterwards has as well. This week’s Power Rankings will include the results of Full Gear because they were vital to the continuation of storylines. It makes ranking these competitors this week a little more difficult, because we don’t know when the next PPV will be and we don’t know how stories will turn. Here are my rankings for this week.

-      5: MJF

MJF wasn’t in a match at Full Gear or on Wednesday Night Dynamite, but his impact was felt more than just about any performer this week. He was in the corner for Cody at Full Gear and controversially threw in the towel and got the referee to stop the title match, then sequentially turned on Cody. Wednesday, he interrupted Chris Jericho’s promo and had a very entertaining segment. They teased that he could join The Inner Circle, but I think he would work better if he stayed by himself for the time being. I am looking forward to seeing more MJF on TV moving forward. Also, I don’t know who this Wardlow guy is, but he seems like he could be a big deal in the future.

-      4: Santana and Ortiz

After a big win against The Young Bucks on Saturday, the feud clearly hasn’t stopped. On Wednesday night, they attacked the Bucks again. They have more heat now than ever and continuing this feud against the beloved Young Bucks will give them more opportunities to be hated. It was announced that Proud and Powerful will face Private Party next week and it should be a great match for all involved, but don’t expect The Young Bucks to just sit idle throughout it all.

-      3: Jon Moxley

Mox won the last match of the night on Saturday and won the opening match on Wednesday against Michael Nakazawa. It was a rather quick defeat and he delivered a challenge to anyone in AEW to face him next. His next opponent will be Darby Allin and if recent history tells us anything, Allin will be put through an excruciating amount of abuse next week. My guess is that Moxley will be next in line to face Jericho for the title, but they could potentially hold off on that for a bigger payoff.

-      2: SoCal Uncensored

I debated on putting SCU in the one spot, but I thought they fell just short, only because of the magnitude of storylines. They really don’t have a storyline at the moment after their squabble with the Lucha Bros was settled, but they did successfully defend the tag titles two times in the last week. On Saturday, they beat The Lucha Bros and Private Party to retain and on Wednesday, they retained against the team of Sammy Guevara and Chris Jericho. Scorpio Sky scored a huge pinfall victory over Jericho and it will be interesting to see if they give him a title shot after the victory.

-      1: Chris Jericho

Jericho was involved in the biggest storyline and the fact that he walked away as the winner from that alone gives him an edge to be number one this week. Jericho successfully retained due to a referee stoppage on Saturday and even though he technically took his first loss in AEW, he still is the biggest thing going in AEW at the moment. His confrontation with MJF was hilarious and it will be interesting to see what comes of that in the future.  Also he released a Christmas song today, so it just adds to the week that he has had.
