WWE Power Rankings: Week of November 17th
This was honestly the most difficult week that I’ve had ranking WWE superstars. This is a weird time, because it is mostly brands going against each other instead of titles being defended. So, needless to say, the storylines are different this month. A lot of it is NXT coming to other brands to shake things up, but after Survivor Series, things will go back to normal, so it’s difficult to rank. Things should be different in a couple weeks, but with that being said, I wasn’t a huge fan of the shows this week. NXT was solid, but SmackDown and RAW were lacking, in my opinion. They had good parts, but nothing really stood out from either show other than the Universal belt redesign. Here are my rankings this week, so don’t be alarmed if they seem jumbled.
- 10: Andrade (NR)
Andrade secured a rather quick win against Cedric Alexander this week and he also secured a Top 10 this week. This was just me struggling to fill out a Top 10, but this win does make him look strong. He will face Seth Rollins next week for a shot to represent RAW next Sunday at Survivor Series.
- 9: Shorty G and Ali (NR)
Again, I struggled to fill out a list this week and these two made sense. Although it was more of a spotlight for Roman Reigns and King Corbin in this segment, G and Ali were the big winners here. They grabbed a big win against a team that was recently tag champs on RAW in Roode and Ziggler. I guess we’ll find out next week what happens in regards to Survivor Series, but it should be interesting.
- 8: Seth Rollins (9)
The segment that Rollins was in was an entertaining one on RAW last week and he was technically on the winning side of two matches Monday night. He was having a match with Walter, which I was super excited for, but it ended in DQ. An 8-man tag followed after the DQ with Rollins, Owens and the Street Profits taking the win over Imperium. Rollins is RAW’s captain and he is clearly the leader of the pack for the red brand.
- 7: The Viking Raiders (NR)
Some of you may think I’m ranking these guys a little high, but I liked what they did here with The Viking Raiders. They faced the team of Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster and won in pretty quick fashion. The Raiders are a uber-talented team and they should be featured as much as possible moving forward.
- 6: Randy Orton, Ricochet, and Humberto Carrillo (NR)
These guys faced The O.C. in the main event Monday night and defeated the heel trio. It wasn’t the best of main events, but it was a solid closer with the babyfaces coming out on top. I really like Orton getting featured with these younger guys. He will help the younger talent get over and will aid the heels to be hated more. Although he isn’t fully a face yet, it looks like he has an opportunity to get Ricochet over.
- 5: Keith Lee (NR)
It looks like Keith Lee will be in prime position to become the next North American Champion. He defeated Roderick Strong on Wednesday and even though he probably won’t get an immediate shot, I’d say it will be just after Survivor Series. This was another segment to get WarGames more promotion, but it sets up another good potential feud here. It looks like Bálor and Riddle will face each other next week and the rest of the people in the segment will have a WarGames match.
- 4: Kabuki Warriors (NR)
Again, the Kabuki Warriors and the team of Flair and Lynch kicked the show off in a tag team title defense. Lynch was distracted by Shayna Baszler and was rolled up by Asuka. It looks like they are getting a big heel push and it is great to see. I could see the Warriors holding the titles for quite a while and quite frankly, they deserve it.
- 3: Lio Rush (NR)
I didn’t expect to see Lio Rush back with the WWE, let alone holding the spotlight in NXT. He has been a great Cruiserweight champ and it seems like he has a different attitude now, which is good to see. Rush is super talented and Garza got over in this match as well. Rush is a great title holder, but I’m interested to see who they build up to take him down, because he looks like he is in for a strong title run.
- 2: Io Shirai (NR)
Io Shirai and Mia Yim were the NXT MVPs this week and it was a great decision to have the ladder match go on last here. They went all out and Shirai continues to build her stardom. Since NXT moved to the USA Network, Shirai has been nothing short of phenomenal. Although there was a lot going on here, Shirai’s win wasn’t overshadowed and she secured here spot in the Women’s WarGames match.
- 1: Bray Wyatt (2)
Wyatt continues to be the most captivating performer on WWE programming week in and week out and this week was no different. The belt has been redesigned to reflect the move to SmackDown and while it does look odd, it totally makes sense. The upcoming match between he and Daniel Bryan should be entertaining, but if Rollins had that difficult of a time competing with The Fiend, I don’t know how Bryan will cope with him, but I’m anxious to see what happens.
