WWE Power Rankings: Week of November 3rd
It was an interesting and action-packed week for wrestling and it was one of my tougher weeks to decipher a clear Top 10. With Crown Jewel in the middle of all the action, it made my decisions more difficult. NXT invaded SmackDown on Friday night, because most of the competitors were still in Saudi Arabia due to a flight delay. It was the best thing that could’ve happened to them honestly, because there is no way that they would’ve put on that great of a show with all of the talent back home. I felt like I should’ve put more NXT superstars on the list this week, but I wanted to be unbiased and completely fair to all brands. It was announced that NXT will be competing in Survivor Series and that should really make things interesting in the next few weeks. With that all being said, here are my Power Rankings for this week.
- 10: Io Shirai (NR)
Shirai kicked off the show with a match against Candice LeRae and I really couldn’t think of a better opener. NXT started with a concert from Poppy, who is an up-and-coming musical act. I honestly can’t put Poppy in a certain genre, but she is very unique to put it lightly. I haven’t seen a bad match containing Shirai or Candice LeRae on NXT and this was another good one. Shirai won the match, so she gets the nod for the Top 10.
- 9: Kabuki Warriors (NR)
This was the first time the Women’s Tag Team titles have been defended on NXT and it did not disappoint. It is great to see Asuka and Kairi Sane getting a shot to have great match like this one against Tegan Nox and Dakota Kai. I keep saying this, but they deserve better as singles competitors, but at the moment, they are giving credibility to the tag team division and putting on great matches. The turn on their former manager Paige was interesting, but other than getting more heel heat, I’m not sure why it happened. It’s not a big deal, but I’m interested to see more from these two.
- 8: Tommaso Ciampa (NR)
The first of the NXT invasion on the Top 10 is none other than Ciampa. He and the whole NXT brand has declared war on the rest of the WWE and having someone like Ciampa to lead is a great choice. He is a star and he proved that on Friday in his match against The Miz. Their back and forth was interesting and it isn’t really something that I thought I ever wanted to see, but I really enjoyed it. After the war is over, he declared that he is going to look to reclaim the title that he had to relinquish.
- 7: Bayley (NR)
Bayley and Nikki Cross had a solid match on Friday and the match was for Bayley’s title. The former hugger retained with the help of Sasha Banks, but it also solidified Cross as a reputable singles competitor Bayley looks like she could have a strong title reign here, but after turning full heel, I’m not sure if she is totally convincing enough to continue to have a long reign. Although the biggest takeaway from this segment was the Shayna Baszler attack
- 6: Becky Lynch (NR)
Becky Lynch is the best that the women’s division has to offer and she continues to show it every single week. Her charisma is unmatched and her ability to put on marquee matches on TV. She made Kairi Sane tap out in the opener of RAW on Monday night. I don’t know who will be her next opponent for her title, but it should be another solid feud, because she brings the best out of all her opponents.
- 5: The O.C. (NR)
One of the biggest moments from Crown Jewel was seeing Anderson and Gallows winning the Tag Team Turmoil match and AJ Styles retaining his US title. They are the top heel group on RAW and they have a ton of potential to not only dominate the completion, but help make the tag team division stronger. I don’t know what the Best Tag Team in the World means moving forward, but I guess it’s pretty cool.
- 4: Brock Lesnar (5)
The Beast had a big week and comes in at number 4. Lesnar successfully defended the WWE title in Thursday against Cain Velasquez and then announced on Friday, via Paul Heyman, that he will be quitting SmackDown to move to RAW. The goal at the moment is to attack Rey Mysterio and to be perfectly honest, I didn’t expect Mysterio to be considered in the title picture again, but then again, I’m not complaining.
- 3: Bray Wyatt (9)
There is a new Universal Champion and it is The Fiend. It has been a strong week for a lot of superstars and it feels weird to put Wyatt here, but that’s where I’m at, at the moment. It appears that the WWE title is moving to RAW and the Universal title is going to SmackDown. It is an interesting an move and it totally makes sense, because the Universal title is the bigger title at the moment and SmackDown is meant to be the A-show.
- 2: Natalya and Lacey Evans (NR, NR)
Again, putting Natalya and Lacey Evans in the number 2 spot seems like a disservice to the impact that they made on Thursday, but I didn’t know what to do here. They competed in the first ever Women’s match in Saudi Arabia and made an impact bigger than the event at hand. I’m glad it was these two ladies that got to perform in this match and I loved how much positivity that came from it.
- 1: Adam Cole (NR)
You guys may disagree with this, but I’m going with Adam Cole as the top dog this week. The NXT invasion paid off well for everyone and Adam Cole benefitted the most from it. He had a successful title defense against Daniel Bryan in the main event of SmackDown and it absoulutey tore the house down. Cole came away looking like a legitimate star on network TV. Anyone that watches NXT knows how big of a star he is, but Friday solidified any doubt. Look for Cole to be in the Top 10 a lot more often in the near future.
