AEW Full Gear Predictions

AEW

AEW

There has been a lot of anticipation for this PPV and we are finally going to get the chance to see the first TV storylines from AEW on display in a big show setting. They did an excellent job building most of the matches and a lot of the bouts are going to be difficult to predict. The show will be available through B/R Live and PPV in the United States. The PPV kicks off at 8pm EST, but the Buy-In starts 30 minutes before the main show. There are currently 8 matches advertised on the card and that should be the perfect amount for this show. I expect to see a lot of great action and we may even see some titles change hands. Here are my predictions and as always, feel free to share your predictions as well.

*Predicted Winners are bolded

*Match card is likely not in exact order

-      Women’s Singles Match

Dr. Britt Baker vs. Bea Priestley

AEW

AEW

This is the only match in the Buy-In show and I think it has potential to be a really solid match. These two have had a decent feud over the last few months and it should be settled in this contest. The foundation of this rivalry is based from an in-ring accident that happened during a Fight for the Fallen tag team match. Priestley gave Baker a concussion and since that happened, the two have been feuding pretty hard. At the moment, Baker is seen as one of the top females in the company and her taking a loss here doesn’t make sense.

-      Men’s Singles Match

Adam Page vs. Pac

AEW

AEW

This is probably the most difficult match to predict on the card and that is saying a lot. Although there hasn’t been a long-standing feud here, this match is an interesting one. They faced each other on the Dynamite debut show and they faced each other in a tag team match two weeks after their first meeting. Pac won the singles match and Page and Omega beat the team of Pac and Moxley in the tag match. It is even now and I think Pac settles the score tonight. This could honestly end up being a number one contender match for the AEW Championship and Pac seems like he is next in line to get his shot at the gold.

-      Women’s Singles Match: AEW Women’s World Championship

Riho (C) vs. Emi Sakura

AEW

AEW

While I think this will be a solid match, I don’t see any scenario that suggests that Riho will drop the title. On the latest episode of Dynamite, these two ladies were in a tag team match and the reason that this title match is happening is because Sakura happened to roll up Riho. We were at the event and I told Randy that these two will probably face each other on Saturday and sure enough, it is happening. I think there will be a lot of fun action here, but there is no chance Riho is losing. I wish there were odds on this match, but Riho is most definitely an overwhelming favorite.

-      Men’s Tag Team Match

The Young Bucks vs. Santana and Ortiz

AEW

AEW

This match will go one of two ways. Either The Young Bucks will win and get back on track towards the AEW tag titles or Santana and Ortiz win, thus giving The Inner Circle more credibility and maintaining their undefeated status. I think the latter happens here, because the Bucks losing here does less damage than Santana and Ortiz taking a loss. It should be a high-flying bout and it could be a feud that will last longer than what happens tonight.

-      Men’s Singles Match

Joey Janela vs. Shawn Spears

AEW

AEW

Here is another contest that is very difficult to predict. To be honest, I really only factored their ages and the circumstances surrounding their respective characters. Although Janela has proven himself as a serious competitor at times; Spears is all business. At the moment, Spears needs to be pushed more than Janela does and that is the main reason why I think he will win. There has been very little build up for the match, but I think it is fine for the circumstance. This will be a hard-hitting contest and it should be very entertaining.

-      Men’s Three-Way Tag Match: AEW World Tag Team Championship

SoCal Uncensored (C) vs. Lucha Brothers vs. Private Party

AEW

AEW

I didn’t know where to put this match, but I think it will either open the show or be stuck somewhere in the middle. This will be the first title defense for the tag titles and I think this match will be non-stop from bell-to-bell. While SCU losing the belts after 10 days would be crazy, I think it happens here. The story was based around winning the belts for Christopher Daniels after he was knocked out of the tournament by the Lucha Brothers and I think the story ends here. Private Party has certainly gained a lot of traction lately, but I don’t think it is quite their time yet. Their time will come, but I just don’t feel like it is the right moment for them to have the gold. My guess is that the Lucha Bros will win here and hold the gold for a rather lengthy reign.

-      Lights Out Match

Kenny Omega vs. Jon Moxley

AEW

AEW

It looks like this will be the last match of the night, but for now, I’ll mark it as the precursor to the main event. For those of you that don’t know what a Lights Out match entails, here’s what it basically is. Lights Out matches take place after the main event match is over and it is basically an all-out hardcore match. While it will be kinda viewed as the main event, it technically isn’t going to be the main event. This is the match that were supposed to get at All Out in August, but Moxley was ruled out of the contest due to a nasty infection. This match will not count for wins and losses, but rather for pride. It is a neat way to book the match, because both competitors are seen as top tier talent for AEW and a loss could take both of them down a notch. We will see carnage. We will see blood and most importantly, we will see two of the best that AEW has to offer in this contest. Enjoy it, because it could be a potentially historic match for the brand.

-      Men’s Singles Match: AEW World Championship

Chris Jericho (C) vs. Cody

AEW

AEW

This is a very, very loaded match, which makes it extremely difficult to predict. With the announcement of a special stipulation on Wednesday regarding Cody’s future title match status, it makes for a more intense matchup. I could see this going one of two ways. Option One, Cody wins and can obviously go on as a normal champion. Or Option Two, Jericho wins and Cody is eliminated from title contention, for the time being. With that being said, I seriously doubt that a self-imposed rule will hold up forever. If Cody loses, I think it will set him up for a serious heel turn in the future. Obviously right now Jericho is the company’s top heel, but once he drops the title, Cody could be the next top heel easily. These two competitors have awesome chemistry and the match should be great, but I’m really torn on who I think will win. Before Wednesday, I would’ve given Jericho an 80/20 shot of retaining, but at the moment, I’m probably leaning Cody at 60/40. Jericho has held the title for over two months and a title change isn’t out of the question, but will he lose it here? I guess we’ll find out tonight.
