So Apparently Kyler Murray Is Tall Enough To Be A NFL QB Now

So at the NFL combine today, the most highly anticipated event was..….the height measurement and weighing of Kyler Murray. That’s right, forget about mechanics, throwing ability or accuracy, it’s all about whether or not he comes in at 5 foot 9 inches or if he comes in at 5 foot 10 inches. Well the results are in and it’s “official”, I suppose, that Kyler Murray is 5’10” and weighs 207 lbs. So apparently this is big news because most seemed to think he was shorter, more close  to 5’9”. From what I was reading before the combine some thought he’d be lucky to come in at 5’9”. But the craziest part of all of this to me is that all of a sudden he’s ready to be an NFL QB because he’s a whopping inch taller than what we initially thought. Whether or not he’s going to be a good quarterback definitely isn’t going to come down to the 1 inch of height. It’s insane to me that people actually think this is the difference. I mean we are not talking 2-3 inches, we are talking about an inch.

Regardless of the inch or not he’s still going to be the smallest QB in the NFL and would make the list of NFL QBs under 6 foot grow to exactly 2. Yeah not a large sample size there. He’d join Russell Wilson, who is 5’11”, as the 2 QBs in the NFL under 6 foot. Let’s be serious 5’9 or 5’10, we all knew Kyler was short and that will limit him in what kind of QB he can be in the NFL. As John Elway recently pointed out in an interview, he will be limited to snaps under center due to his height and will have to play out of the shotgun the majority of the time. So it’s crucial for him to find a team that will build a system around him rather than trying to make him fit there system, because he’s definitely not going to be a pocket passer. To sum it all up, by learning today that Kyler Murray is 5’10” we learned nothing about his actual ability to be a starting NFL QB. The real question is will he be able to find a system in the NFL that fits his style of play and can he play a similar style of football that Russell Wilson plays at QB because I believe that’s his only chance of success. What do you think?

Also how about Kyler not throwing at the combines drills? That is wild to me that a QB that could use all the help he can to get drafted in the first round is sitting out of events.
