Song of the Day: The Cave(Live) & Raleigh Concert Thoughts
In honor of the Mumford & Sons concert that a few of The Sports Chief guys went to in Raleigh last night, here’s a song from where it all started. Mumford & Sons playing The Cave live outside of some shack in Austin, Texas in front of 20-30 people in 2009. Then fast forward to a year later where they are playing in front of thousands at the Reading Festival in 2010. You tell this is the moment that Marcus Mumford knows the band had made it when he cracks a huge smile when the crowd start singing every word.
As far as the show last night in Raleigh, it was outstanding. Mumford & Sons is definitely one of those bands that sounds just as good live as they do on the studio album. Marcus Mumford is a crazy talented musician. Not only does he play the foot base with his right foot and foot tambourine with his left foot, all the while he is singing and playing guitar, he also hoped on the drums for a song too. All around , it was an incredible show, one of those concerts that you would enjoy even if you weren’t a huge fan of the band. The band brings the energy and gets the crowd into every step of the way. A+ concert, the only shame is that they didn’t break out Wagon Wheel, since they’ve covered it before, considering they were in Raleigh.
