Play Of The Year On Opening Day?
Well folks, we’ve finally made it. Winter is over and it’s Opening Day for Major League Baseball, although a little early this year. Usually the first few weeks are spent knocking the rust off and getting back into the groove, even though they’ve been in Spring Training for a month, but Lorenzon Cain is obviously ready to go. In the bottom of the 9th inning with the Brewers leading 5-4 and Josh Hader on the mound, which usually means game over, Jose Martinez of the Cardinals sent a ball deep to right-center that had enough juice to just clear the wall. That is until Lorenzo Cain came flying in and robbed Jose Martinez and the Cardinals of a game-tying home run. We see great home run robbing catches like this all the time but in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs and on opening day, it makes it even more spectacular. Brewers pick up right where they left off last season, where they came up just short of making the World Series, and they better because they’re my pick to represent the NL in the World Series this year.
Also the Los Angeles Dodgers set an Opening Day record for the most home runs. The Dodgers finished the day with a total of 8 home runs with Joc Pederson contributing 2, Kike Hernandez with 2, and Corey Seager, Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger and Austin Barnes all adding a homer.
