Song of the Day: El Paso City

Today’s Song of the Day goes back to 1976 and was performed by Marty Robbins. I feel like Marty Robbins was one of the most under appreciated country music singers of all-time. He had a career that musical career that spanned nearly 35 years and another thing that he was known for is that he was a NASCAR driver. He ran 35 races in NASCAR’s top level and recorded 6 Top 10s in his career. 10 of those races he happened to enter at Talladega, which also happens to be the place they are racing today. He had one Top 10 at the Superspeedway and that was on August 11th, 1974. The winner of the race was Richard Petty (big shocker, right?). This song was one of his most popular singles and it was his 15th US Country number one hit. He only had one more in his career.
