Song of the Day: Tallahatchie

Today’s song of the day is a lesser-known song, which really is such a shame. “Tallahatchie” is sang by singer-songwriter Jimbo Mathus, who plays blues/country that just makes you feel like you’re in Mississippi (where he’s from). He actually toured with blues phenomenon Buddy Guy for a few years in the early 2000s. I first heard of this song, as well as Jimbo Mathus, from a college geography professor I had at Appalachian State University who played in a small band and had a vast knowledge of music. He was playing this song as we came into class one day and I remember thinking, “man I’ve never heard of this, but this is REALLY good.” Now I want to share with anyone who reads this the fine music from Jimbo Mathus.
