Meet The Fastest High Schooler In The Country

So apparently there’s this high school kid in Texas, named Matthew Boling, who just so happens to be the fastest kid in the country. Actually, he just so happens to pretty much be the fastest high school sprinter of all time as he broke the state and national record in the 100m sprint. His nickname is White Lightning. White Lightning burst onto the scenes a few weeks ago when he ran a 9.98 seconds in the 100m sprint at regionals. Yes, you read that right, 9.98 seconds. That is exactly .40 seconds behind the all time record set by Usain Bolt. Now apparently this run was wind aided so it didn’t qualify for any records, but he was able to follow it up with a 10.13 mark at the Texas state championship, which broke all the high school records. Here’s the run below. Also refresh page if video doesn’t appear first time.

As you can see, the nickname White Lightning is very fitting. And it just so turns out that White Lightning is not only great at the short sprint of 100m but also in the 400m. Below is a video of Boling pulling off an incredible comeback in the 4X400 relay with a time of 44.74. Again, just to compare the world record in the 400m is a 43.03. The comeback starts around the 2:20 mark in the video.

So White Lightning will be taking his track talents to the University of Georgia next year, but that’s if his bet against Ted Ginn Jr. doesn’t get him in trouble with the NCAA. So in an interview last week, NFL wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr, who is known for his speed(he ran a 4.37 40yd dash at his 2007 combine) and not his hands, said that he is willing to challenge anybody in a race for 10k cash. The high schooler, Boling, simply quote tweeted the headline of Ginn’s challenge with “Bet”. While this race will likely never happen due to what the NCAA would do to Boling and his eligibility, that’s probably a good thing for Ted Ginn Jr, becuase I don’t like his chances going up against White Lightning.
