WWE Power Rankings: Week of May 2nd

This week was uneventful to say the least. The participants in the MITB Ladder matches were announced, but nothing was really out of the ordinary about the ones in the match. SmackDown was a better show, yet again, but not by a large margin. It was one of the more difficult weeks to rank superstars, because nothing really stands out other than the WWE Championship match. Here are my rankings for this week.

-      10: Bayley (10)

WWE

WWE

Bayley is back at the 10 spot for this week’s ranking. She had a big match with Becky Lynch and the match was pretty decent, but not spectacular. The match was more significant to future bookings rather than it being significant for stealing the show. We could see more of Bayley in the future, but we will see. She still is a great talent.

-      9: Lars Sullivan (NR)

WWE

WWE

Since his debut, he has been causing chaos and destroying veterans of the WWE. I don’t know what they have planned for him in the future, but I feel like they’re going about this the right way. We’ll see who his first feud is against, but I think they’ll have him emerging the victor over a good veteran talent, maybe someone like Randy Orton.

-      8: Lacey Evans (NR)

She didn’t have a very long spot on the show Monday night, but she made the most of it. The reason she is ranked is because she is in a title match at Money in the Bank. I think they’re rushing her just a little bit, but I think they could make her a star if they book her right.

-      7: AJ Styles/Seth Rollins (2, NR)

I’m marking this down as a tie, because a can’t discern a clear favorite in this match. Rollins is the favorite obviously, but as far as the feud is concerned, there really isn’t anything setting either competitor apart. This should be an entertaining match in a couple weeks, but I’m not expecting Rollins to drop the title.

-      6: Sami Zayn (NR)

Another great segment for Sami Zayn, but we have no clues as to who he will feud with. He could start a feud with Finn Bálor, but that is really the only thing that makes since at the moment. I don’t think it is the time for him to enter the Universal Championship discussion, but we could see him contending for it sometime this year.

-      5: Bray Wyatt (5)

Yowie! Wowie!! Bray Wyatt had another edition of Firefly Fun House and it is honestly the best thing about RAW at the moment. This concept is unique and his character is new and refreshing, which is something we haven’t seen in quite some time. It is unclear if Wyatt will be in a team or if he will be a singles competitor, but if he is booked right, then he should be very successful in this new venture.

-      4: Roman Reigns (NR)

Let me make one thing clear. Roman’s involvement on Tuesday night wasn’t particularly good, but the significance that he had on the show is the reason he is ranked so high. He took on the B-Team and defeated them. What they’re doing for him isn’t working for me personally, but it is a big part of the show. It is conflicting for fans, but it is clear that they are just grooming him for a title run pretty soon.

-      3: Kevin Owens (1)

Owens is benefiting from being in the biggest feud heading into the PPV. He and the WWE Champion seem to work well together and I’m anxious to see what happens in a couple weeks. Right now, I’m giving the edge to Kingston, but I really think Owens could be the new champ. We’ll see how these next two weeks turn out, but they have a really good feud going on at the moment.

-      2: Kofi Kingston (3)

WWE

WWE

Kofi gained a spot this week and he honestly could’ve been paired with Xavier Woods, but I decided to keep it simple with just Kofi. The New Day member was standing tall at the end of the show and that is enough to put him above Owens this week. I don’t know how long the WWE is willing to allow the Kofi Kingston experiment, but I’m enjoying. It.

-      1: Becky Lynch (4)

WWE

WWE

Lynch is back at number one for the 6th time this year and it was tough to put her here this week to be honest. I mentioned earlier that it was a tough week to rank performers, but I can’t think of a better option than the performer that appeared on both shows and will be defending two titles at the upcoming PPV. She will have her hands full in a couple of weeks and she legitimately could end up dropping one of the titles at Money in the Bank. I think it is more likely that she will lose the SmackDown title, but we shall see.
