AEW Double or Nothing Results and Reaction
Last night was a refreshing experience for wrestling fans. Double or Nothing was very good and it looks like WWE may have a little bit of competition. This type of show is what WWE fans have been wanting for over 10 years and now they have AEW. I now am very interested to see what RAW looks like on Monday. They took plenty of shots at the WWE last night and I’m glad that they have someone to compete with, because that will make both promotions step their game up. We got a peek at the new AEW World Championship and a peek at the future of wrestling. I don’t think there was one bad or below average, for that matter, on the card. I was pretty blind to a lot that was going on last night as far as storylines go, but it didn’t matter. The content was amazing. All I’m saying is, the wrestling world is about to get very interesting.
*Winners are bolded
- 22-Man Casino Battle Royale
WINNER: ‘Hangman’ Adam Page
LAST 4: ‘Hangman’ Adam Page, MJF, Luchasaurus, Jimmy Havoc
I had a feeling that Page would be entered in the match and I knew that he had a good shot to win if he was going to be in the match. You can only tell so much within a battle royal, but I saw a lot of promise in a good deal of these wrestlers. I picked Jon Moxley to win this one, but the closer it got to the show, I figured he wouldn’t show up in this spot. Tommy Dreamer was an entry that I didn’t expect to see. The match was entertaining and Hangman should put on an interesting match for the AEW title.

- Men’s Singles Match
Kip Sabian vs. Sammy Guevara
This match was perfect for the spot it was in. It wasn’t the best match on the card, but it didn’t have to be. It was a solid match with a peek into what the show was going to be like. These two competitors look like they could be strong competition for cruiserweights depending on what AEW’s championship situation will look like. What really stood out to me was each competitors charisma. They both knew how to play to a crowd and I enjoyed it.
GRADE: 8.2/10
- 6-Man Tag Team Match
SoCal Uncensored vs. Strong Hearts
This match kicked the main show off and the high energy, high risk/high reward, was in full effect early on here. I didn’t know much about Strong Hearts prior to the match, but I was impressed. In a PPV with a few great tag team matches, this wasn’t the best, but that isn’t a knock on them. It was an excellent match, but we saw excellent tag team competition, which seems like a foreign concept in WWE. It was refreshing.

- Women’s Fatal 4-Way
Kylie Rae vs. Britt Baker vs. Nyla Rose vs. Awesome Kong
We were treated to a nice surprise before the bell sounded. Brandi Rhodes announced that there would be another competitor in the match and it turned out to be Awesome Kong. It was a nice surprise in a great spot. I was impressed with this match and I think the Women’s division is in good hands in AEW. Britt Baker was the most logical winner of this match and she will likely be the face of the Women’s division moving forward, but all competitors looked good in this one.
GRADE: 8.6/10
- Men’s Tag Team Match
Best Friends vs. Angélico and Jack Evans
I predicted that this match one be one of the more underrated on the card and I still think it was. In the moments after the match, however, were a little confusing. They were attacked by The Super Smash Brothers, but there was no explanation for it. I thought the match was really good, but the grade that I’m giving for this will reflect more on the whole segment, rather than the match.
GRADE: 8.1/10
- 6-Woman Tag Team Match
Hikaru Shida, Riho Abe, and Ryo Mizunami vs. Aja Kong, Yuka Sakazaki, and Emi Sakura
I really liked this match, but the crowd wasn’t really into it. I knew absolutely nothing about most of the competitors in this match, but I was very impressed. They put it all on the line and I thought it held great entertainment value. I don’t know how much these women will be featured in the future, but I think a couple of them will be competing for a future Women’s Championship.

- Men’s Singles Match
Cody vs. Dustin Rhodes *Match of the Night*
There was so much going on in this match. Before the match started, Cody took a sledgehammer to what appeared to be a throne to mock Triple H and it was amazing. This signified to me that they are ready for a war. I mentioned in the prediction article that this could be Match of the Night based on storytelling alone and did it ever tell a story. There was a lot of blood shed by Dustin and the match was just a really good contest. It was one of the best matches I’ve seen in quite a while. Throughout the match, both threw shade to their former WWE gimmicks and it was refreshing to see Dustin get a shot like this to seriously prove himself. The ending was very emotional and they will team together to face The Young Bucks at Fight for the Fallen. This would’ve been an ideal ending to the show. Dusty would’ve been proud for sure.

- AEW World Championship Unveiling
I’m not going to give this segment a grade, but it was a surprising ordeal. They brought Bret Hart out to unveil the new belt and that left a lot of fans shocked. I personally didn’t expect to see Hart there, but it made total sense once I was seeing it. Hart brought out ‘Hangman’ Adam Page and MJF decided to crash the party. If you forgot what someone with free reign on the mic looks like, you got that and then some with MJF. Maxwell Jacob Friedman absolutely shined in this segment. They have an absolute star on their hands with him and it was showcased perfectly right here. The title belt looks nice. It is a very large belt, but it does remind you of an old 1980’s promotion wrestling belt, which is cool. It’s going to be interesting to see who the first champ will be.
- Men’s Tag Team Match – AAA World Tag Team Championship
The Young Bucks (C) vs. The Lucha Bros
I didn’t expect to see The Young Bucks retain the titles, but both teams made it an interesting match. As far as in-ring competition goes, it was Match of the Night. This match never stopped. If you blinked, you would surely miss a crazy spot. It was insane. Both teams put it all on the line and this has me pumped for future tag team competition in AEW. There’s not really anything else to say other than it was a very impressive match.
GRADE: 9.8/10
- Men’s Singles Match
Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho
This match was very good, but I have to be honest, I expected a little better of an ending. It wasn’t the fact that Jericho won the match, it was just the way it ended. Jericho showcased a new move, but there wasn’t a ton of build for it. I realize that I’m grasping at straws here, but it was a really good match. This was the most I’ve ever seen of a live Kenny Omega match and he is as good as the hype that follows him. I thought for sure he would win, but what happened after the match was an interesting twist. Jon Moxley appeared and attacked both Omega and Jericho. It was announced after the show that Moxley signed a multi-year deal with AEW and he will make his AEW debut at Fyter Fest. Business is picking up and I am excited for the future of AEW and the future of pro wrestling.
