Song of the Day: Under the Bridge

One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands. There’s not really a whole lot more I can say about “Under the Bridge” because of its immense popularity. It was released in 1992 by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and peaked at #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Songwriter and singer Anthony Kiedis wrote the song as a reflection of his life at the time, but didn’t think it would be a good fit on the album because of its slower melody. It wasn’t until the rest of the band was so receptive to the song that Kiedis agreed it would be included. Thank goodness it was. In addition to the studio version that everyone’s heard, I also posted one of my favorite videos on YouTube where Kiedis and my favorite guitarist of all time, John Frusciante, playing it acoustically while in Amsterdam touring. Be sure to check that one out.
