Thank You Kemba
The news that Kemba Walker was leaving the Charlotte Hornets was made official yesterday and I think I can speak for the vast majority of Hornets fans by saying that we are going to miss him. I personally think he was the best Charlotte Hornets player of all-time and you just don’t replace a guy of his magnitude. He is the franchise’s leading scorer by 2,170 points and has the team record for minutes played at 20,607. He is also 2nd in assists on the all-time Hornets’ list and 3rd in steals.
Kemba Walker is a game-changing player and whenever he is in the game, you know you had a chance to win. There are only a handful of players in the NBA that can take over a game like Walker. Last season was his best, but over the last 3 or 4 years, he has been an absolute star. Those of you who do not follow the Hornets as much may not know, but Kemba is such a special player. He was drafted by the Charlotte Bobcats with the 9th pick in the 2011 draft and it seems like it was just yesterday.
Now that Kemba is no longer a Hornet, fans of the team aren’t happy with the direction that the franchise seems to be heading. The landscape is changing, but hopefully it is all for the best. Even from the Bobcats days, it has been a pretty discouraging road, but there still is a great deal of potential for the team. I’m not saying the road ahead will be an easy one, but we have to believe that the Charlotte Front Office is thinking in the best interests of fans and doing all they can to build a winning culture.
We are definitely going to miss Kemba Walker and I want to say a big Thank You to the man that has been nothing but great for our team and our city for the last 8 years. We wish you best in the future.
