Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Is Definitely Getting Fired

Manchester United started out the season on a high note with a 4-0 win over Chelsea at Old Trafford on opening day. They’ve now followed that up with a draw vs Wolves, a loss to Crystal Palace and another draw to Southampton. And despite Wolves being behind both Palace and Southampton in the table at the moment, the only excusable result is the draw vs Wolverhampton Wolves. This is a Manchester United team that once again spent big in the summer transfer window and is way too talented for these types of results. It doesn’t exactly get any easier for United either with their next three games in the Premier League being against Leicester City, who sit in 3rd place in the league, West Ham and Arsenal. Also sprinkle in a Europa League and EFL Cup match as well. The going is about to get tough in European football and United and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer haven’t exactly put themselves in a great spot through the first 4 games.

In my opinion, Frank Lampard will be safe for most of the season unless Chelsea is in the bottom half of the table after the midpoint of the season. Lampard gets the excuse of the transfer ban and the fact that expectations weren’t high at all for Chelsea coming into the season. Anything more than a Europa League spot is icing on the cake for Chelsea, this season. United on the other hand, as I stated earlier, spent big in the summer and are obviously going to expect Champions League football next season. I know it’s only 4 games in the season but if this run of mixed results continues, I could see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fired by Christmas. I’m actually going to go out on a limb and guarantee that he will no longer be United’s coach by the end of December. There is just no way that he can this team and their egos to a top 4 spot and that will cost him his job.

Other Notes:

  • Liverpool and Manchester City continue to dominate the competition, with Liverpool picking up a 3-0 win over Burnley and Manchester City picking up a 4-0 win over Brighton. We are only 4 games into the season and I can confidently say that it would be an absolute miracle for somebody other than Liverpool or City to finish in the top two spots.

  • The Teemu Pukki streak ends at 3 games, but he still has 5 goals through the first 4 games of the season. Speaking of strikers in form, Sergio Aguero continues to kill it like he does every other season. Aguero has 6 goals through the first 4 games of the season and leads the league.

  • No games next weekend due to the good ol’ international break, which everyone just loves and adores. International break is the worst, or maybe it just is for me because the US soccer team is terrible.

  • When we do get back from international break, we will have our first round of Champions League and Europa League group stage matches kicking off.

  • Speaking of Champions League: Tottenham were drawn into Group B in CL with Bayern Munich, Olympiacos and FK Crvena Zvezda. Man City were drawn into Group C in CL with Atalanta, Dinamo Zagreb and Shakhtar Donetsk. Liverpool were drawn into Group E in CL with Genk, Napoli and Salzburg. Lastly, Chelsea were drawn into Group H in CL with Ajax, Lille and Valencia.

  • In Europa League, Arsenal were drawn into Group F with Eintracht Frankfurt, Standard Liege and Vitoria de Guimaraes. Wolves were drawn into Group K with Beskitas, Braga and Solvan Bratislava. Lastly, Man United were drawn into Group L with AZ Alkmaar, FC Astana and Partizan Beograd.
