WWE Power Rankings: Week of January 20th, 2020

One more week until the Royal Rumble and things are getting very interesting. Last week was a good week for programming and you can just feel that the performers are really engaged in their own stories at the moment. Everything on the upcoming week of programming will be directly correlated with the PPV on Sunday and the 3 shows should be fun to watch.

-       10: Asuka/Becky Lynch (5)

WWE

Have I mentioned that I love this feud? I think they could keep this feud going until SummerSlam and I wouldn’t get bored of it. Asuka and Becky Lynch have great chemistry and that is on full display each week. I fully expect Becky to retain on Sunday, but it should be another wonderful match between these two.

-       9: The Usos (NR)

WWE

WWE

The Usos looked great on Friday against The Revival. It was some old-fashioned tag team wrestling on SmackDown and The Usos came out on top. I’m kind of surprised that it has taken this long for The Usos to be aligned with their cousin Roman Reigns, but I’m glad we’re getting to see that. Also, if you zoom in on the picture, you’ll see me directly below Jey Uso’s shoe.

-       8: Pete Dunne and Matt Riddle (NR. NR)

Speaking of great tag team wrestling. The make-shift team of Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne is weird to see on paper, but boy did they put on a wonderful match. They won on Wednesday and advanced in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. It will be interesting to see how far they get in the tourney.

-       7: Aleister Black (NR)

I feel like I should be saying they need to move on from the Buddy Murphy/Aleister Black matches, but every single match between the two has been better than the last. I say keep up the good work guys, but for now, Black is reaping all of the rewards from this.

-       6: John Morrison (8)

WWE

WWE

John Morrison made his in-ring return on Friday night and a couple of us from The Sports Chief happened to be in attendance in Greensboro. It was awesome to see him back in the ring and he happened to pick up a big win against Big E. We could see Morrison and The Miz pushed into a title match and you can guarantee that it would be a great match.

-       5: Roman Reigns (NR)

WWE

WWE

I have never seen a tables match live until Friday night and it was pretty cool to see. Roman was the one who stood tall in the closing of the show and it could be a possible indication of how things will go on Sunday night.

-       4: Drew McIntyre (NR)

WWE

WWE

Over the last few weeks, they have been keeping Drew McIntyre warm by giving him numerous squash victories, but last Monday was different. He defeated Randy Orton and AJ Styles in a triple threat match in the opener and like Roman Reigns, I think it could be an insight to how things could go on Sunday night. I guess we’ll see though.

-       3: Lacey Evans (4)

WWE

WWE

I didn’t watch a lot of her matches in NXT, but I have loved Lacey Evans ever since she debuted on TV. She gets better every week and I definitely see her as a champion in 2020. Heck, she could be a champion on Sunday night. Her presence is a strong one and her character, with the exception of Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, has been the best since last year. If she doesn’t win on Sunday, she has great odds to win the Rumble match.

-       2: Bianca Belair (NR)

WWE

WWE

I feel like Belair hasn’t done much over the last couple of months and it was great to see her get a big win in the Battle Royal main event on Wednesday. Belair earned a shot at Rhea Ripley’s title and I’m not sure if they are going to faceoff on Sunday or if it will be next month at the TakeOver event, but the match should be an awesome one regardless of when it takes place.

-       1: Seth Rollins and AOP (NR)

WWE

WWE

These guys won the fist fight main event last Monday night and they continue their strong run on the red brand. These guys haven’t been announced as entrants in the Rumble yet, but expect that announcement tonight on RAW. It wouldn’t shock me if Rollins goes back-to-back, but I don’t expect it this year. It is interesting to see Buddy Murphy aligning himself with this group as well.
