LAST 3 GAMES

-       @ Denver Nuggets: L, 86-100

-       vs. Orlando Magic: L, 83-106

-       vs. Milwaukee Bucks: L, 103-116

The Hornets haven’t won a game in over three and a half weeks, but I think this is the week they can pull together a couple of wins. They had a long stretch over the last 3 games, but they are back in the US and ready to play tonight. They’ve had a dreadful couple of months, but hopefully things will look better in February. I guess I’ll pick Malik Monk as the MVP of the last slate of games. He was the leading scorer in the last 2 games. Hopefully he gets a steady amount of playing time for the rest of the season. This week looks like it could be a decent one for Charlotte, but it won’t be without its challenges.

NEXT 3 GAMES

-       vs. New York Knicks (13-34): Tuesday, January 28th at 7pm

-       @ Washington Wizards (15-30): Thursday, January 30th at 7pm

-       @ San Antonio Spurs (20-26): Saturday, February 1st at 9pm

The first game on the slate is against the New York Knicks. This should be the game that ends the losing skid, but I guess we’ll find out tonight. The Knicks are one the worst teams in basketball, but the Hornets aren’t much better, if any. It’s going to be interesting to see how this game plays out. I assume all games are going to honor Kobe Bryant in some capacity tonight and you may see this occur throughout the rest of the week. Looking over the stats of both teams, they’re two very similar teams. The two have met once earlier this year and the Hornets wont the game at MSG. Hopefully it is a similar result.

Next is a team that is equally as bad. The Wizards are one of those teams that should be good, but just aren’t. The Hornets have met the Wizards twice this year and they have a split series. Bradley Beal is still the top player for the team, averaging over 28 PPG. The Wizards actually have one of the best offenses in the league, but their defense is horrible. They are the worst scoring defense by a large margin and it looks like it will stay that way for the rest of the year. This should be a win for Charlotte, but I guess we’ll find out.

San Antonio is the last opponent on the slate and the Spurs are looking for a way into the 8th spot in the Western Conference. The two teams haven’t met this year and it will not be an easy game for Charlotte. San Antonio isn’t the team that it used to be, but they still are team that you can’t overlook. The Spurs are still led by DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge, but aren’t seemingly a team that is similar to the iconic Spurs teams just a few years ago. A win for the Hornets here isn’t out of the question, but one that I’m not expecting. They’re a pretty mediocre team as far as their statistics tell and if the Hornets can make them take bad shots, it could be a win for Charlotte.
