Hell in a Cell (2020) Predictions

Hell in a Cell is finally here and it will be held at the Thunderdome yet again. This may be the last PPV that we see at the Thunderdome, so keep your eyes on that. There are only a handful of matches confirmed at this point, so it’ll be interesting to see how the card fills out tonight. I think we may be in for a couple major title changes tonight, so that could be cool to see. Here are my predictions for the night and if there are matches added, I will try to add those predictions in as well.

*Predicted winners are bolded

*Match card is likely not in the exact order

-       Men’s Singles Match

Jeff Hardy vs. Elias

WWE

WWE

It is good to see Elias back in action and Jeff Hardy is a great opponent for his return. I picked Elias because a win against Hardy is a good look for him moving forward, but if Hardy wins, nothing changes. I don’t think Elias will jump out of the gate with a shot at the WWE Championship or anything, but I think he could find himself competing for the US title in the near future easily.

-       Men’s Singles Match: Money in the Bank Briefcase

Otis (MITB) vs. The Miz

I am genuinely interested to see how this one unfolds. I have absolutely no clue how this will turn out. This will be the first MITB briefcase defense since the 2018 SummerSlam when Braun Strowman successfully defended the briefcase against Kevin Owens. At the moment, I don’t see any odds for this match, but I would guess that The Miz is a slight favorite. There is a big opportunity here to help bring Otis out of the funk that they have created. I’m not saying Otis has to win a major championship in the end, but at least make him out to be more than a joke who mistakenly captured the briefcase. Otis is one of the more entertaining superstars on the roster and it would be a shame for him to walk out of this with nothing to show for this run. Then again, a win for The Miz would be another turn of events that could turn into something good. Either way, I don’t think it ends in a major championship for either competitor though.

-       Women’s Hell in a Cell Match: SmackDown Women’s Championship

Bayley (C) vs. Sasha Banks

WWE

WWE

I think this is the perfect moment to end Bayley’s historic title reign. The feud has been overshadowed by a couple major battles, but this has been a very interesting back-and-forth over the last couple months. If there is any title that will change hands tonight, it will be this one. The belt hasn’t changed hands since October 11th, 2019, which adds up to 379 days. Sasha is currently a -225 favorite and I would personally run with that. At this point, it would be somewhat of a surprise to see Bayley walk out as champ. I think the feud could continue, but I don’t think it should. I could see Bayley being out of action until the Royal Rumble and putting on a big performance. We’ll see how this turns out, but don’t be shocked if this match steals the show.

-       Men’s Hell in a Cell Match: WWE Championship

Drew McIntyre (C) vs. Randy Orton

WWE

WWE

This will be the third installment of these two competitors matching up and it will probably be the last. They will battle it out in the confines of Hell in a Cell. I was surprised to see that Drew McIntyre was actually favored here. Orton and McIntyre had even odds at Clash of Champions and Orton was the favorite in their SummerSlam match, if I recall correctly, so I think it is a little surprising to see Orton not being favored here. Although McIntyre is favored at -200 at the moment, I think it is truly a toss-up. McIntyre enters today with a 202-day title reign and with the WWE Draft taking place a couple weeks ago, there are more potential opponents for McIntyre to feud with, but that also means Orton could see a couple new matchups as well. I think McIntyre retains because things seem to be in his favor at the moment.

-       Men’s Hell in a Cell “I Quit” Match: Universal Championship

Roman Reigns (C) with Paul Heyman vs. Jey Uso

WWE

WWE

If you would’ve told me three months ago that Jey Uso would be getting not just one, but two Universal Championship title shots, I would’ve thought you were insane. That is the case however, and it has turned out to be a wonderful feud. Do I think Jey Uso has a shot? Absolutely not. Reigns is currently a -2800 favorite and I can’t see it going any other way. I think most fans can agree that Uso doesn’t have a shot, but most fans are interested to see what happens in the match. In what appears to be the final match in the feud, Roman has a long list of opponents, (or should I say victims?), on the way to WrestleMania and it appears that Reigns is poised to be the title holder until then.
