TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs (2020) Predictions
The last PPV of the year is here and it is in the form of TLC. Although things usually start to wind down not only in the world of WWE, this is a pretty interesting card. The card doesn’t feature a lot of superstars, but the main players are on display and I think there will be a lot of great action. This should have all the makings of a good PPV and here are my predictions for it all.
*Predicted Winners are bolded
*Match Card is Likely Not in the Exact Order
- Men’s Tag Team Match: RAW Tag Team Championship
The New Day (C) vs. The Hurt Business (Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin)
Surprisingly enough, The Hurt Business is the odds-on favorite in this contest. Woods and Kofi have been champs for only 62 days in this title reign, but that is basically the going rate at which tag titles change hands. The Hurt Business, especially Cedric Alexander, has picked up some big wins on RAW and has a lot of momentum. I think the Hurt Business takes the tag titles tonight and go into 2021 as RAW Tag Team Champs. This also should be a really fun matchup on a card that looks pretty stacked.
- Women’s Tag Team Match: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (C) vs. Asuka and TBD
The match result here all depends on who Asuka’s tag team partner will be. Could it be Peyton Royce? Lacey Evans? Charlotte Flair? Maybe Ronda Rousey? Heck, Becky Lynch?..... I’m obviously joking. Seriously though, it will all come down to who her partner will be. Another interesting prospect could be her former tag partner Kairi Sane. I guess we’ll find out tonight, but my best guess is Charlotte Flair and if that is the case, I think we will have new Women’s Tag Champs tonight
- Firefly Inferno Match
“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton
This is perhaps the most interesting matchup on the card not only because it is a cinematic Inferno Match, but the fact that it has two big time performers in it. I don’t what the near future holds for these two guys, but I know that if Wyatt loses, his character’s aura will diminish, but if Orton loses nothing changes. Orton is Teflon at this point in his career and losing a match like this doesn’t hurt him at all. There are rumors that he and Edge will have a rematch at WrestleMania and if that is the case, this is just a meaningful holdover feud until then. Wyatt is a -300 favorite and I think it will go in the favor of him tonight. This should be a fun match.
- Women’s Singles Match: SmackDown Women’s Championship
Sasha Banks (C) vs. Carmella
Sasha Banks is notorious for having short title reigns, but it appears that this reign will be a long and meaningful one. She currently sits at 56 days in the current reign and it is her personal best by 22 days. That is insane considering she is a 6-time champ. Banks is working on a new level and that shouldn’t take anything away from Carmella, who has made a big splash since her return. Sasha is a -500 favorite and this has all the makings of a successful title defense.
- Men’s TLC Match: WWE Championship
Drew McIntyre (C) vs. AJ Styles (with Omos)
There isn’t a ton of great build for this matchup, but it doesn’t need it. McIntyre is the best act on RAW and AJ Styles has been the best in-ring performer in the WWE for the last few years. While AJ Styles winning this match wouldn’t be a total shock, it doesn’t really make sense for him to win. I’m interested to see where these two are in storylines at WrestleMania, but for now, don’t expect McIntyre to drop the title tonight. McIntyre is a -600 favorite.
- Men’s TLC Match: Universal Championship
Roman Reigns (C) (with Paul Heyman) vs. Kevin Owens
I think this will be the main event tonight and it will be interested to see what happens here. A few months ago when Roman was declared the Tribal Chief and the possibility of him facing The Rock at WrestleMania seemed like a sure thing, it almost feels like they’re going to revisit the Roman and Jey Uso battle with Uso getting the big payoff at WrestleMania. I don’t know the status of Jimmy Uso at the moment, but it feels like Jey Uso will try to help Roman again, but Roman isn’t going to respect his decision to help him win. Reigns is an overwhelming favorite at -2000, so it would be a total shock if he drops the title, but this should be a great match nonetheless.
