AEW Power Rankings: Week of April 16th 2020
NXT surprisingly defeated AEW in the rankings this week, but it was a close matchup. The show is still going strong in my opinion, but I’m starting to wonder when these shows will return to normal. I guess that will be the case for everything, but I’m still anxious for things to return back to their regular state. Here are my rankings for the week.
- 5: Sammy Guevara
Sammy Guevara picked up the win and the big thing here was for Guevara to gain momentum against his matchup with Darby Allin. He defeated Suge D in his debut on Dynamite. I’m looking forward to Allin and Guevara next week.
- 4: Shawn Spears
Spears defeated Justin Law this week and like many of the contest this week, it was a squash. I personally thought Spears could’ve been a good choice to be inaugural TNT Champion, but it looks like they’re trying to keep him fresh, so that is an encouraging sign.
- 3: Britt Baker
Baker picked up the win against Cassandra Golden in quick fashion. All it basically took for Baker was a couple kicks to get the win this week. Baker is becoming more and more confident each week and it is showing.
- 2: Lance Archer
Archer and Colt Cabana had the opening match of the show and it was a part of the TNT Championship tournament. Archer got the win and it was a nice matchup. Archer has been very strong thus far and look for him to continue that in the coming weeks.
- 1: Jon Moxley
Jon Moxley had a successful title defense this week in a no-holds barred match against Jake Hager. The match wasn’t as good as I was anticipating, but it did the trick. Moxley got a win against a big opponent and Hager got the chance to have a big match against the champ. I don’t know who will be next for Moxley, but there are a lot of options.
