2020 Money in the Bank Results and Reaction
Money in the Bank has come and gone and I thought it was a solid show considering the circumstances. Up until the end there weren’t really any surprises in the show, but it was all worthwhile in the end. Here are the results and my reaction to each match.
- Men’s Singles Match
Jeff Hardy over Cesaro
Again, I don’t know why it was Cesaro instead of Sheamus facing Jeff Hardy, but that doesn’t mean it was a bad match. It was a good match for the kickoff show. It lasted a little longer than I expected, but it wasn’t a problem. Good match, it just didn’t benefit much by being in the kickoff show.

- Men’s Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match: SmackDown Tag Team Championship
The New Day (C) over Lucha House Party, The Miz and John Morrison, and The Forgotten Sons
This opened the show and I thought there was a lot of great action. Wrestling purists probably weren’t fans of the match, but I enjoyed it and I thought it was entertaining. The New Day retaining was a good move and I think they could benefit from having a decent reign moving forward. They’re one of, if not, the best tag team of the last 10 years or so and they deserve to have some lengthy title reigns.

- Men’s Singles Match
Bobby Lashley over R-Truth
This match was quick and to the point. It was supposed to be MVP in the match, but Lashley took matters into his own hands and filled in for MVP. I don’t quite understand the direction they’re heading with Bobby Lashley, but I think fans have lost interest in him sadly. He has been lost in the shuffle since returning to WWE and hasn’t been in many great feuds. Hopefully this squash will mean something in the grand scheme of things, but I think the biggest possible thing will be that MVP will become Lashley’s manager and Lana will be pushed away. R-Truth was entertaining as usual.

- Women’s Singles Match: SmackDown Women’s Championship
Bayley (C) (with Sasha Banks) over Tamina
This match was surprisingly good. Tamina hasn’t received a chance like this ever and she did a great job in my opinion. Some of you may not think this highly of the match, but I thought everyone did their job wonderfully. Bayley retains and I didn’t really see it going any other way, but Tamina made us believe that she had a great shot to win the title. Hopefully Tamina gets more chances, because I liked what I saw between her and the champ.

- Men’s Singles Match: Universal Championship
Braun Strowman (C) over Bray Wyatt
This feud isn’t over. I felt like we were going to get a glimpse of that inclination during or after the match and we did. These two did a great job of storytelling and I thought it was entertaining. If we ever look back and wonder what the WWE was like during the quarantine days, this would be a great match to point back to.

- Men’s Singles Match: WWE Championship
Drew McIntyre (C) over Seth Rollins *MATCH OF THE NIGHT*
Very good match here. I decided to go match of the night here, but it may not be the segment of the night. The match lasted a little over 19 minutes which was fine, but it seemed a little longer obviously due to the fact that there were no fans. Rollins had new music and entrance and I think this will be permanent. I don’t hate it. I think it fits, but I think he should’ve changed it a couple months ago honestly. Great match, but I was confused about the portion after the match. Is Rollins turning face again? Heels usually don’t shake hands with the fan favorite champion at the end of their match. It will be interesting to see what happens.

- Money in the Bank Ladder Matches
Women’s Winner: Asuka; Men’s Winner: Otis
If any of you read my predictions article, I said that Otis probably had the least probability to win the briefcase and I am sure glad that he won. Otis is a fan favorite and I am fired up for him. There are a lot of possibilities for him and I hope when the time comes, he wins a belt. I will lose my mind when or if that happens. And as for Asuka, it turns out that she just didn’t win the MITB briefcase. It was announced by Becky Lynch on RAW that she actually won the RAW Women’s Championship last night. Becky is taking a leave of absence because she is having a child. Congrats to The Man and congrats to Asuka! I thought Shayna Baszler was going to be more of a factor in the match, but she was virtually a non-factor, which was odd to see, but it wasn’t exactly shocking to see Asuka win last night. The joint theatrical match magic struck gold again. While I hope they don’t overdo it, I am enjoying the product that they’re putting out.
