WWE Power Rankings: Week of May 18th 2020
I’m going to keep the rankings simple this time. As always, the rankings are from the previous week, so if you are wondering why they come out on Monday night a lot, that is the reason why. I like to get a full week to decide who should be in the Top 10. A lot went on last week and I’m willing to bet this will be a week that could be historic. Here are my rankings for last week.
- 10: Seth Rollins
Rollins lost his match by DQ, but he was highlighted quite a bit on RAW last week, so he gets the 10 spot. Rollins attacked Rey Mysterio after the match was called and it appears that Mysterio may be taking a little break. Rollins week outside of the ring was bigger than his work in the ring and there will be more on that later on.
- 9: Matt Riddle
Not much to say here. Matt Riddle beat Timothy Thatcher in the main event of NXT with a roll-up. Their feud is sparking up and I think it could be an interesting one.
- 8: Elias
Elias advanced in the IC title tournament after Sami Zayn was forced to vacate the championship. He beat King Corbin to advance and it was a roll-up to secure the victory. It’s good to see Elias picking up wins.
- 7: The IIconics
After being out of action for 6 months, The IIconics made their return to the ring to face the tag champs. The won and this week, they will have a rematch for the championships. Glad to see these ladies back.
- 6: Daniel Bryan
I would venture to say that this was match of the week for WWE, but it only earns Daniel Bryan a 6th ranking this week. He faced Drew Gulak and it appears that this was his last match in WWE. I hate to see him go, because he is super talented and I feel like he has a lot to give in the WWE. Don’t know what is next for Daniel Bryan, but he won on Friday.
- 5: Becky Lynch
Sadly, this is possibly the last we could see Becky Lynch in a ring. She vacated the RAW Women’s Championship last week and announced that she is pregnant. She is taking a leave of absence obviously because she can’t compete, so the title is in another competitor’s hands. I wanted to give Lynch recognition this week, because this will definitely be the last time she will be ranked this year. I have a good feeling she will return, but it is difficult to say if or when. Congrats goes out to The Man and please, get back in that ring as soon as possible, because she is my favorite women’s superstar and I selfishly don’t want to see her gone for very long.
- 4: Drew McIntyre
McIntyre is the definition of a fighting champion and I’d venture to say that he will be at the top of the midseason report of my Power Rankings in the next few weeks. He beat Andrade this week and made a big impact. I don’t know what’s next for the champ, but he is doing a superb job considering the circumstances.
- 3: Braun Strowman and Otis
Not a lot to say here. Otis and Strowman teamed up on SmackDown and it doesn’t look like Otis will be cashing in the briefcase anytime soon. Tucker wasn’t available so Strowman helped him take down Miz and Morrison.
- 2: Edge/Randy Orton
A lot of people said that this segment could’ve been better, but I thought it was great. Edge and Orton closed out RAW last week and it looks like we will see them in action again soon. It is great to see Edge competing again, I just wish there was a crowd’s reaction attached to it.
- 1: Asuka
Asuka is your new RAW Women’s Champion! She won MITB last Sunday and it happened to be for more than the briefcase. Inside the briefcase, Becky Lynch revealed that the championship was on the line. I don’t think Asuka new to far beforehand, because here reactions seemed genuine. Asuka is a wonderful competitor and nobody in the business deserved this more than her. I’m glad for her and hopefully she will get a good run with the belt.

* NOTE: I didn’t write an article last week, but I put last week’s rankings on Twitter. The number one spot was misplaced. I swapped Asuka and Otis accidently.
