WWE Power Rankings: Week of May 23rd 2020
It is the beginning of the week again and I hope that everyone’s Memorial Day weekend is going well. There wasn’t a ton of excitement in the world of WWE last week, so I tried my best to rank the Top 10 this week. NXT was probably the best show of the week, but all shows were decent. Here are my rankings for the week.
10: Bayley
I feel bad ranking Bayley this low, but I couldn’t find a place to put her. Nevertheless, she is in the Top 10 so that is all that counts. She beat Charlotte Flair on Friday in a non-title match. It was a great showing by both women.
9: Shayna Baszler
We haven’t seen a good old fashioned submission match in quite some time, but we did last Monday. Baszler picked up the win against Natalya and I thought it was a fine match.
8: Karrion Kross
Kross made a fast and powerful impact on Wednesday night. He defeated Liam Gray in a squash. There isn’t much to say about this one. He is NXT’s fast rising star at the moment.
7: Drew McIntyre
The champ faced King Corbin on RAW and won. He has been competing every week and this is exactly what fans have been wanting for years, a fighting champ. Hopefully McIntyre continues his success, because I don’t see another suitor for his belt in the near future.
6: Roderick Strong
Strong beat Dexter Lumis this week on NXT and I thought I was one of the best matches of the week.
5: Drake Maverick
Since the Cruiserweight champ is currently unable to compete they have had a tournament on NXT to decide the interim champ. Drake Maverick has the most momentum of anyone at the moment and I’d like to see him get his moment to shine. He was released a month or so ago, but is apparently still under contract due to his non compete clause.
4: Sonya Deville and Dolph Ziggler
Sonya and Dolph finally got the better of Otis and Mandy. I just hope that Dolph doesn’t get the MITB briefcase after all of this is said and done.
3: Jeff Hardy
The Intercontinental Championship is vacant at the moment and Jeff Hardy beat Sheamus to advance. They have been building this feud for a little while and I thought it wasn’t the best way to end it, but it was fine. He will face Daniel Bryan next week.
2: AJ Styles
AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura competed in the IC title tourney this week and Styles walk away with the win. It was a fun match and was given sufficient time to be great. Styles advances and will face Elias next week.
1: Charlotte Flair
Despite losing on Friday, Charlotte Flair is this week’s number one. She was on all three shows this week and is looking like the new Iron Woman of the WWE. Another thing that is way more shocking, this is the first time in Sports Chief Power Rankings history that Charlotte Flair has been ranked number one. I think that is absolutely insane, but here we are and I have a little say in that I guess.. so never mind. Charlotte Flair with her first, but probably not last, number one.
