NXT TakeOver: In Your House Predictions
WWE is bringing back the “In Your House” PPV and is broadcasting it in the form of NXT. This is only my second TakeOver predictions article ever, so bear with me. I do keep up with NXT, but not like the rest of the WWE and AEW. I do know enough to be speak about the brand at length though, so I’m gonna run with it. There are a couple really interesting matches and I don’t remember a TakeOver event that has been a letdown yet, so I think we’re in for another great show. Here are my predictions for the show.
*Predicted Winners are bolded
*Match Card is likely not in exact order
- Men’s Singles Match
Finn Bálor vs. Damian Priest
Since rejoining NXT in October, Finn Bálor has been seen as the veteran who enhances the lesser-known talent. He hasn’t been in a feud for any title since joining the yellow brand, which I think is a good thing. There’s no need to throw him into a title shot. Priest is a talented performer and I think this match could tear the house down. I think Bálor wins, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see Priest win either.
- 6-Woman Tag Team Match
Candice LeRae, Raquel González, and Dakota Kai vs. Mia Yim, Shotzi Blackheart, and Tegan Nox
I think the babyfaces will outlast the heels in this match. There are a lot of talented women in this contest and it will be interesting to see what happens here. Since Candice LeRae turned heel with her husband Johnny Gargano, she has had a new edge and it could lead her to a feud for the Women’s Championship. She has had a couple title matches, but has yet to be featured in a main event feud. The same goes for most of the women in this match. I think Mia Yim is the only performer here to have a title feud in NXT, when she had a long feud with Shayna Baszler last year. Should be a fun match here.
- Men’s Singles Match
Tommaso Ciampa vs. Karrion Kross (with Scarlett)
This is the match that I am most interested in watching. Ciampa is a proven soldier for the NXT brand and Karrion Kross is the fast rising talent in the WWE. Kross has proven himself elsewhere, but a win over someone like Ciampa would be huge for him moving forward. This will be a fight and I think Kross takes the win and marches right to a title fight in the very near future.
- Men’s Singles Match: NXT North American Championship
Keith Lee (C) vs. Johnny Gargano
This is a tough choice. I think Gargano has enough momentum to take the title from Lee, but at the same time, I think Keith Lee is the toughest competitor to hold the belt. Lee has held the belt for 135 days and if I have to make a choice, I say he retains. Keith Lee could also be one of those superstars that has been rumored to make the jump to RAW or SmackDown and lose the title. It is difficult to say, but I think it will be a great match. It also wouldn’t surprise me to see Candice LeRae and Mia Yim to get involved somehow.
- Women’s Triple Threat Match: NXT Women’s Championship
Charlotte Flair (C) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Io Shirai
Flair’s title run has been a good one thus far, but I think it comes to an end tonight. There are endless possibilities for this contest, so it is difficult to guess what will happen. I think that this is Io Shirai’s moment to shine. Ripley had a great run with the belt before Charlotte Flair, but I think Shirai and Ripley will fight for the belt after Charlotte gives it up tonight. I could also see Ripley winning and then Shirai beating her later down the line. If I have to make a bet though, I feel pretty safe saying that Charlotte loses tonight. Charlotte hasn’t been notorious for long title reigns and I don’t think this will be any different of a situation. Also, if I had to bet, I’d venture to say this will be match of the night.
- Last Chance Backlot Brawl: NXT Championship
Adam Cole (C) vs. Velveteen Dream
This will be another cinematic main event match and while I think they can do a lot of interesting things with these matches, I think performers as talented as Cole and Dream are, they need to have an actual wrestling match. That’s just my opinion though. It Is difficult to ignore the fact that Adam Cole’s contract is ending in a couple months and his time could be coming to an end in NXT. I’ve heard rumors that he has re-signed for another 3 years, but I’ll believe it when either the WWE announces it or if he is still around in the next few months. With that being said though, I think Cole retains here. This is a No-DQ brawl and I think it is almost a given that Undisputed Era will be involved somehow. If Dream loses he can’t compete for the NXT title as long as Cole is champion. That doesn’t really change things in my opinion, so I think Cole has a successful title defense. Cole just celebrated a full year in his current title reign, which is a remarkable accomplishment and it is true testament to how great of a competitor he is. Dream is also rumored to be moving to RAW or SmackDown, so that could be the reason for this kind of stipulation.
