WWE Power Rankings: Week of July 10th 2020

Just like I mentioned in the AEW Power Rankings article, I did not release any power rankings last week due to the fact that I released the midseason breakdowns, but I will post them at the end. For the most part, it was a good week for WWE. RAW and NXT were great, but if you aren’t a fan of the entertainment side of wrestling, SmackDown probably wasn’t for you this week. There was actually a lot of action in these shows despite us being led to believe that there may be some cut backs on match quantity. Here are the rankings for the week.

10: Randy Orton, Andrade, and Angel Garza

WWE

WWE

It appears that we may have a nice little team here. Orton teaming up with Garza and Andrade is pretty interesting for the time being and I think this is just temporary, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough. They faced Big Show and The Viking Raiders this week on RAW and picked up the win.

9: Jeff Hardy

WWE

WWE

The opening segment and match following on Friday night was not a favorite among fans, but I thought it was fine for what it was. There are some rumors that Jeff Hardy may be leaving WWE as soon as his contract is up, but on the other hand, some are saying he is staying. Hardy defeated The Mix on Friday and it looks like he will have a bar brawl against Sheamus coming up.

8: MVP and Bobby Lashley

WWE

WWE

It is the second week in a row that MVP and Lashley are ranked and they had a good matchup this week against Ricochet and Cedric Alexander. It is a shame that they’re somewhat wasting Ricochet on mid-level tag team matches, but nevertheless, it was a good match and Lashley secured the win for the team. MVP will face Apollo Crews at Extreme Rules.

7: Sasha Banks and Bayley

WWE

WWE

The Women’s Tag Champs picked up a win against Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss on Friday and they had another busy week. They both competed on RAW in singles matches, but neither secured a win on Monday. They continue to be the top act in the women’s division and I think they’re in a pretty good place at the moment.

6: Drew McIntyre

WWE

WWE

This segment was more of a recent nostalgia segment than anything, but it worked. Drew McIntyre opened the show on Monday and to his surprise, he was greeted by Heath Slater. I wish Slater would get another shot with the WWE, but I guess we’ll see what happens with him coming up. The match was a simple Claymore kick into a pin match, but the promo was what sold it. I’m still interested to see what stipulation the match will be at Extreme Rules, perhaps an extreme rules match?

5: Kevin Owens and Rey Mysterio

WWE

WWE

Mysterio was finally cleared for action and he teamed with KO to take down Rollins and Murphy on Monday. Mysterio and Rollins should have a great match at the next PPV, but I don’t know if I’m that interested to see and eye for an eye match. It seems a little too corny, but it is WWE we’re talking about. The match on Monday was pretty good, possibly the best on the card.

4: Johnny Gargano

WWE

WWE

Gargano and LeRae both have new edgy characters and it is working to both of their advantages. Gargano picked up the win against Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and the match was awesome. I wish Scott would’ve picked up the win, because it would’ve meant more moving forward for him, but I guess they have a plan for both of them coming up. Great match and great win for Johnny Wrestling.

3: Cadice LeRae

WWE

WWE

Speaking of Gargano and LeRae, LeRae had a huge win this week and I would venture to say it was probably the biggest win of her NXT career. The street fight was a great choice for performers like Him and LeRae, because if you followed them prior to NXT, you would know that this match was right up their alley, no pun intended. I have enjoyed this feud and I guess we’ll see if we get any more of this feud, but I could see Gargano challenging Lee again soon.

2: Asuka

WWE

WWE

Asuka picked up a big win against the SmackDown Women’s Champion in a non-title match on Monday. The match was great and it happened to be the main event on RAW. Asuka will have another test ahead at Extreme Rules, but I think she is prepared for it. It is also good to see Kairi Sane back.

1: Keith Lee

WWE

WWE

I mean, this was a given, right? Keith Lee became the first double champion in NXT history on Wednesday night and I don’t think it could’ve happened to a more deserving competitor. Keith Lee has been incredible ever since his NXT debut and he picked up the biggest win of his career on Wednesday night. It will be interesting to see where he goes from here, but I expect much bigger things for Keith Lee in the near future.
