Song of the Day: No Quarter
No Quarter by Led Zeppelin. Kind of been on a Zeppelin kick lately after reading Hammer of the Gods(Led Zeppelin biography) but that’s obviously never a bad thing. No Quarter comes from Zeppelin’s fifth album, Houses of the Holy. For me, No Quarter was different than anything else the band had done to that point. Early Zeppelin was know for their quick hitting rock and blues songs, but this was more of a psychedelic or progressive rock sound, which set the tone for the next few albums. As the song starts out it has an eerie feel to it thanks to John Paul Jones’ work on the keyboard/synthesizer. Then after about a minute into the song, Jimmy Page comes in with one of my favorite Led Zeppelin guitar riffs.
