AEW Power Rankings: Week of August 13th 2020

With All Out only being a three weeks away, things are really heating up on AEW Dynamite. They’re still performing well in the demos and the matches this week were really solid. Cody showed off the finished TNT Championship design this week and there was a lot of good action on display. Also, there was an altercation between some wrestling legends this week during the Tag Team Appreciation segment. It was a fun week and here are the rankings for the week.

5: Hikaru Shida

It has only been a couple weeks since her last match, but it feels like it has been a while. Shida picked up an easy win against Heather Monroe. The Women’s division isn’t in a good place at the moment and having Shida face unknowns on TV isn’t helping. She currently doesn’t have an opponent for All Out and to be fair, I can’t tell you a good opponent for her. You could make a case for Abadon, but I think that would be a little bit of a rush. Injuries have harmed the women’s division, but things will get better for sure once most of the women are healthy.

4: The Young Bucks

The Bucks seemingly don’t get too many matches on Dynamite by themselves, but they did this week and defeated Stu Grayson on Evil Uno of The Dark Order. It was Tag Team Appreciation Night and The Young Bucks were used a couple times throughout the night. The biggest portion was when the Rock N Roll Express and Tully and Arn were in the ring and things got heated. It looks like it will be the Bucks vs. FTR at All Out and i’m excited for the match.

3: Cody

Cody successfully defended the updated TNT Championship against Scorpio Sky. I personally thought that Scorpio had a real shot at the title, but during the match he rarely had any momentum. I think this match and segment was a preview for All Out. He is facing Brodie Lee next week for the title, but I think there will be something pertaining to the Nightmare Family vs. The Dark Order. whether it be a mixed tag match or something else.

2: Kenny Omega and Hangman Page

Omega and Page and another successful defense of their titles abasing Jurassic Express. This was a really fun contest. At this point, Page and Omega have nearly beaten every team on the roster except a couple and who knows when they will drop the titles. Their run with the belts has a been great, but I’m interested to see what they have cooking for All Out.

1: Orange Cassidy

Orange Cassidy picked up the biggest win of his career this week against the legend Chris Jericho. I kinda feel that there would be some kind of interference in this one to prolong it to All Out, but it doesn’t appear that would be the case. I think we could still see some variation of The Inner Circle facing Best Friends and some extra help, but I don’t think we will see another singles match between the two. I don’t think think the match was as good as it could’ve been, but it was fine for what it was.
