WWE Power Rankings: Week of August 2nd 2020

All of the shows were pretty solid this week in the WWE and there were a lot of good matches. We got to see some great title defenses and it looks like new things are on the horizon. Here are the rankings for last week’s action.

10: Andrade and Angel Garza

WWE

WWE

This team is on fire right now and they picked up a win against the Viking Raiders and the team of Cedric Alexander and Ricochet last Monday night. It looks like they will compete. for the RAW Tag Team Championship at Summerslam. Should be a fun matchup.

9: Johnny Gargano

WWE

WWE

This was quite possibly match of the night on NXT and Gargano picked up a nice win over Roderick Strong. It seems like NXT does a better job of utilizing their action compared to the other shows and I really noticed it in a match like this.

8: Tegan Nox and Io Shirai

WWE

WWE

I said that the Gargano/Strong match was possibly match of the night and I don’t disagree, but I personally liked the women’s tag opening match better. The champ and Nox picked up a win against Dakota Kai and Candice LeRae. It was a fun contest.

7: Big E

WWE

WWE

Big E is going to get more opportunities as a singles competitor coming up and he and The Mix had a wonderful match. I’m ready to see where this singles run ends up for Big E. He is one of the most entertaining people to come through the WWE in a long time and I hope they utilized him properly.

6: AJ Styles

WWE

WWE

Styles had a nice title defense against Gran Metalik on Friday night. It was a fun match and i’m glad that someone like Metalik is being used. Also, it looks like Lince Dorado could be getting a shot soon too.

5: Bayley

WWE

WWE

Bayley retained her title on SmackDown against Nikki Cross, This was a good match and it is good seeing Cross get some looks as a singles competitor. It looks like Cross and Bliss are done for now and I don’t know what is going to take place, but it should be interesting.

4: Bray Wyatt

WWE

WWE

Bray Wyatt wasn’t in a match, but he made the biggest impact of the week on SmackDown. He appeared after the SmackDown Women’s title match in the main event. Alexa Bliss was left in the ring by Nikki Cross and The Fiend attacked her. It should be interesting to see how the twist this storyline and I think they want us to believe Bliss is going to be siding with Wyatt from now on, but I think it could be Cross. We’ll see, but I am intrigued.

3: Dexter Lumis

WWE

WWE

Lumis’s match win wasn't the best of the night for NXT, but it was perhaps the most meaningful. He won his way into the Ladder match at TakeOver XXX for a shot at the North American Championship. At the moment, he is probably the favorite to win it.

2: Sasha Banks

WWE

WWE

Banks won the RAW Women’s title outright on Monday night. This match was cursed with another less than ideal finish. It looks like we will get a dominant run from Banks and Bayley for the next little while. I’m interest to see what happens moving forward.

1: Drew McIntyre

WWE

WWE

McIntyre won the best match on RAW last Monday and it set up a really interesting feud. McIntyre ended his beef with Ziggler seemingly and now it is on to Randy Orton. If they want McIntyre to drop the title, which I think would be a mistake, I think Orton is an ideal opponent to lose it to. It should be a fun match at SummerSlam and I’m ready to see it all unfold.
