AEW Power Rankings: Week of September 11th, 2020
All Out was a decent PPV, but I felt like the Dynamite following it was just as, if not more, interesting. There were some new faces on the show and some familiar faces entering new storylines. There isn’t much to say other than that, but I didn’t post last week’s rankings. So, I will post those at the end of the article and they will reflect the results of the All Out PPV. Here are my rankings for this week though.
5: Miro
Miro is ALL ELITE! Miro made an appearance on this week’s Dynamite and he was revealed as the best man for Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford’s wedding. I feel like this has been in the works for many weeks, but i’m glad it is finally coming to fruition. If you don’t recognize the name Miro, he was Rusev in WWE. It is good to see him back on TV and hopefully, he will become a bigger star in AEW.
4: Chris Jericho and Jake Hager
Jericho and Hager had a nice win on Wednesday against Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela. It wasn’t a very meaningful win at the moment, but a good win nonetheless. This seems like it is setting up a short term run for Jericho and Hager as a team and it will probably end up being FTR’s first successful tag title defense. We’ll see though.
3: Orange Cassidy
After picking up the biggest win of his wrestling career last Saturday, Orange Cassidy had a great match with Angelico. The match was a fun contest and we even saw a further promotion the feud between Best Friends and the team of Ortiz and Santana. It was a perfectly utilized segment all-in-all.
2: Jurassic Express
I thought that Jurassic Express won the best match on Dynamite this week. I can’t wait for them to get their shots at the tag titles and I think it’ll be sooner rather than later. They defeated The Lucha Bros in the opener on Wednesday night and it appears that there may be a rift between the Lucha Bros. We’ll see how that develops moving forward, but a big win nonetheless for Jurassic Express.
1: Brodie Lee
Brodie Lee gets the top spot for the week because he was the only one on Dynamite to defend a title and he did so successfully. He defeated Dustin Rhodes to retain his TNT Championship and the match was the main event. It was a solid match and it is cool to see Dustin Rhodes in the main event, but it doesn’t look like he’s getting another shot anytime soon. We’ll see though.
