WWE Power Rankings: Week of September 20 2020
We’re here again with another edition of the WWE Power Rankings. Last week was a decent week but nothing special. Clash of Champions is fast approaching and things are shifting more towards matchmaking. To be fair though, this is probably the least excited that I have been to watch a WWE PPV in quite some time. However, those usually turn out to have the best matches, so I guess we’ll see. Here are my rankings for last week’s WWE action
10: Kevin Owens
KO and Aleister Black have had a nice little feud over the last few weeks, but KO picked up the win last Monday night in their matchup. Owens has kinda been on the back burner as of late, but I can expect him to be in title feuds pretty soon.
9: Asuka
I debated on including Asuka for the rankings because of the flubbed finish, but I felt it was kind of wrong since it was a title match. This was the match I was most excited to see, but things didn’t turn out particularly well in the match, especially the ending. RAW has been out of sorts in the last few weeks, but hopefully things will get back to normal soon.
8: Sasha Banks/Bayley
These two had a nice promo segment on Friday night and I think this will be one of the most anticipated matches leading into the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.
7: Breezango
Breezango successfully defended their tag titles against Imperium on Wednesday night. The match was a solid showing from both teams and Breezango really has the momentum since gaining the belts.
6: The Street Profits
In a highly anticipated tag match, The Street Profits emerged victorious over Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura. The Champion vs. Champion non-title match was cool to see, but I think a lot of people got the wrong idea about it. Most fans wondered if there was going to be another title unification, but it doesn’t look like that will be the case. It was a solid match though.
5: Io Shirai
Shirai and Shotzi Blackheart had a non-title match on Wednesday and they brought the house down. Shirai picked up the win and it looks like she and Shotzi could have another match in the near future.
4: Drew McIntyre/Keith Lee
I usually don't put matches that don’t end in a decisive manner, but I felt like I had to include this matchup. Lee and McIntyre put on a wonderful match until Retribution interfered. This also means that Hurt Business appears to be a face group moving forward as they made the save. We’ll see how this all plays out though.
3: Roman Reigns and Jey Uso
Roman and Jey Uso won the main event match of SmackDown defeating King Corbin and Sheamus. It was a street fight and the match wasn’t awesome, but it was more impactful in the storyline sense. Uso and Reigns haven’t turned on each other, but I expect somewhat of a rift coming up on Friday night.
2: Damian Priest
The NA Champion defeated Timothy Thatcher in a title match on Wednesday night’s main event. It was a great match and I don’t think it is over between the two.
1: Seth Rollins
Rollins won the most anticipated match of the week by defeating Dominik Mysterio in a steel cage match. There were a lot of moving parts within the match and it did not disappoint.
