AEW Revolution (2021) Predictions

AEW

AEW

AEW Revolution is finally here and when I say that this is a loaded card, I think I am speaking lightly. There are a lot of incredible matches and a lot of potentially historic moments that we may be in store for tonight. They got us interested by announcing that Sting was going to be competing for the first time in nearly 6 years, then they announced that the AEW Championship was going to be defended in an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch. It didn’t stop there though. Paul Wight made is on-screen debut last week and announced that there will be a HOF-worthy talent signing announcement. There is a lot of anticipation for the show and I can’t wait to watch tonight. Here are my predictions for the show.

*Predicted Winners are bolded

*Match Card is likely not in exact order

-       Women’s Tag Team Match

Riho and Thunder Rosa vs. Dr. Britt Baker and Rebel

AEW

AEW

This is the only announced Buy-In match and I think it will garner a good amount of interest. These four women are quite possibly the most talented performers in the AEW Women’s division. It is good to see Riho back in action and it will be interesting to see here teaming up with Thunder Rosa. I thought that Thunder Rosa was going to advance to the finals in the Women’s Tournament, but she did well despite this. There aren’t odds for this match, but I can’t see Thunder Rosa and Riho losing the match.

-       Casino Tag Team Royale

Winner: Death Triangle

AEW

AEW

I think the Casino Tag Team Royale will kick off the main portion of the show, but nevertheless, it should be an exciting match. Battle Royals aren’t exactly the most exciting matches, but AEW’s version of them are usually pretty interesting. The winner of this match gets a shot at the AEW Tag Team Championship and as of now, there are 15 teams in the match. The Dark Order has stake in 1/5 of the match, so it is very possible that they win the match. I think at the moment, Pac and Rey Fenix has the best shot to win here. They haven’t had a shot at the titles as a team and I think that Pac and Fenix would have an incredible match with The Young Bucks. It is difficult to say what will happen here, but I’m interested.

-       “Big Money” Match

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. “Big Money” Matt Hardy

WWE

WWE

This match is no different than a normal singles match, but there is a special stipulation. Each wrestler’s Q1 salary is on the line. This stipulation doesn’t really resonate with the audience, but at least they’re trying different things. This match should be exciting enough, but I think Page wins pretty easily here. Page is a -350 favorite at the moment and I can’t really see it going any other way. With a moniker like “Big Money” Matt, Hardy should be able to fork over that Q1 salary with no problems.

-       Men’s Tag Team Match

Best Friends vs. Miro and Kip Sabian

AEW

AEW

Of the matches that have odds, this is the most evenly matched. This feud has carried on for quite a while and it has been pretty interesting despite not having a title attached to the story. Best Friends are currently the slight favorite here, but I think Miro and Sabian take the W here and the biggest reason I think they’ll win is because of Miro. He is currently undefeated and a nice PPV win will be just what he needs. I think we’ll see him competing for the AEW World Championship pretty soon and a win here will be a big deal in solidifying that.

-       “Face of the Revolution” Ladder Match

Lance Archer vs. Max Caster vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Scorpio Sky vs. Penta El Zero Miedo vs. TBA

AEW

AEW

TBA is very intriguing here. Paul Wight said that there will be a will be a hall of fame worthy talent signing announced at Revolution and I think that there is a good chance that it will come into play here. Depending on who it might be, they may win, but I personally think it could be a swerve that it is Paul Wight himself. There are a few interesting possibilities though. The names that I am hearing are Kurt Angle, Christian, Bully Ray and Pat McAfee.  It was announced that he would be joining the announce team on Dark: Elevation. There aren’t any odds for this match, but I think Cody Rhodes probably has the best odds. His odds are likely the highest, but whoever TBA is, I think will be your winner.

-       Women’s Singles Match: AEW Women’s World Championship

Hikaru Shida (C) vs. Ryo Mizunami

AEW

AEW

This is an interesting matchup and it is cool to see AEW exploring more options for the AEW Women’s division. With that being said though, I don’t think Shida drops the title. Shida has been a great champion and I think that it will continue tonight. AEW catches a lot of flak for not booking their women’s performers well, but I think they’re doing the most with what they have. Shida is one of the best performers in the world and I don’t think she should drop the title to just anyone. Considering the match that I haven’t seen Ryo a lot on TV, I don’t think she’ll win, but what I’ve seen of her, I think it will be a really good match.

-       Men’s Tag Team Match: AEW World Tag Team Championship

The Young Bucks (C) vs. The Inner Circle (MJF and Chris Jericho)

AEW

AEW

This match may be the toughest to predict on the card. Part of me feels like Jericho and MJF could be the new tag champs here, but the Bucks have only defended the titles twice since earning them. I think the Young Bucks will win here and I think that mainly because of the angle with their father being involved. If their father wasn’t involved I would honestly lean towards The Inner Circle, but I think the Bucks will successfully retain the belts tonight. Young Bucks are -250 favorites.

-       Tag Team Street Fight

Team Taz (Ricky Starks and Brian Cage) vs. Sting and Darby Allin

AEW

AEW

The Icon is making his return to action and it is an exciting time for Sting fans. I thought I would never see Sting back in action, but here he is in AEW and teaming up with Darby Allin. I can assume that this will be similar to the Stadium Stampede match that we saw at All Out a few months ago, but having Sting in the match automatically adds a lot more interest in the match. With that being said, I can’t see Sting coming back in dramatic fashion just to lose. It probably is the most predictable match on the card, but I don’t think fans care about that. They’re just happy to see Sting back in action.

-       Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch: AEW World Championship

Kenny Omega (C) vs. Jon Moxley

AEW

AEW

What a match stipulation. Exploding Barbed Wire, you can’t really get any more hardcore than that. Moxley is the hardcore legend of AEW and I think he actually has a real shot to win the title back. Omega is the largest favorite on the card at -550 and I’m really surprised. I think this could be a swerve honestly. Personally, I don’t think Omega has been a great champion. He won the title back in December, but what has he done with it? Not much. It was interesting at first when we found out that there was going to be a partnership between Impact and AEW, but other than that, nothing has come of it. He has only defended the title one time in 3 months and that Impact/AEW partnership has only amounted to one match on an Impact PPV and two matches on Dynamite and those were 6-man tag matches. My gut tells me that Moxley wins back his belt, but instinct tells me that Omega retains. I’m going to go on instinct this time, but I hope Moxley wins the match. Also, that new signing could show up in this match. If it is, my best guess would probably be Kazuchika Okada. Many consider him to be the best wrestler in the world and he and Omega had the hottest feud in wrestling a few years ago. We’ll see, but this should be a wonderful show.
