The Man Who Sold The World being performed by Nirvana at their famous MTV Unplugged set. While a lot of people probably think this was originally a Nirvana song, it wasn’t. The song was actually written by and released in 1970 by David Bowie on the album that shared the same name. Then in the fall of 1993, Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged aired which featured a set of about half Nirvana songs and half covers. Of course they played none of the hits besides Come As You Are, granted they made most of the rest of the songs hits after that performance. So 23 yrs later Nirvana took the David Bowie song and made it a hit. The original version by Bowie never charted, but Nirvana’s version hit the top 5 of the US Alternative chart and also charted in a handful of countries in Europe.
