Professional
Charlotte Hornets
Unfortunately, there’s not really any good news on the Hornets front. Injuries have surmounted to such a level you just have to sit back and laugh at the team’s terrible luck. Just when the Hornets were making good headway in the Eastern Conference, one key injury after another happened and it has really shown lately. With four straight losses, Charlotte has dropped from 4th in the East to 8th just like that, and you really have to have a pessimistic view on their playoff chances this year now.
After last Sunday’s close loss to the Hawks, the Lakers came to town and I don’t think anyone liked their chances in that one. However, the Hornets battled tougher than I expected and lost by just eight points behind Devonte Graham’s 19 points and Bismack Biyombo’s 12 boards. Wednesday night’s game was the one they needed to win. Squaring off against the struggling Cavaliers, the Hornets dropped the contest 103-90 at home. Like I’ve been saying, with the depleted roster, these are the games the Hornets need to win, and when they don’t it’s going to make it that much tougher to reach the playoffs.
Going to Brooklyn Friday night was another tough matchup for the Hornets. Miles Bridges really had a strong performance, scoring 33 points and pulling down 9 rebounds. But in the end, there just isn’t enough consistent contribution to win these tough games right now. Next up on the schedule is a game against the Portland Trailblazers, who are 6th in the competitive Western Conference.
