Professional
Carolina Panthers
You know who the Panthers drafted in last week’s draft by now, but let’s check out the undrafted free agents signed by the Panthers:
David Moore, OT, Grambling
Paddy Fisher, LB, Northwestern
Oscar Draguicevich, P, Washington State
Mason Stokke, FB, Wisconsin
Spencer Brown, RB, Alabama-Birmingham
Charlotte Hornets
After dropping last Sunday’s matchup against the Heat, the Hornets bounced back with a 2-1 record this week so far before tonight’s game against the Pelicans. Tuesday’s game was a close one against the Pistons, and a must-win against a below-average opponent, but Charlotte pulled it out 102-99. Lamelo Ball had another nice game, leading all Hornets in scoring (23) and assists (6).
That game was followed up with a loss against Chicago by 21 points on Thursday, however. It just wasn’t a good game all around and one to move on from, which the Hornets did the very next day against Orlando with a 122-112 win. In that game, Terry Rozier led the team in scoring (28) and assists (6). The Pelicans await tonight in another game the Hornets need to win. Currently Charlotte is still hanging on to that 8th spot in the Eastern Conference, but by a slim margin. They are 1.5 games ahead of the Wizards, who are 9th, and 2 games behind the Celtics, who are 7th.
Semi-Professional
Charlotte Knights
Minor league baseball is back! After a year and a half, the Charlotte Knights were finally back in action this week against the Gwinnett Stripers (minor league affiliate of the Braves). So far the results haven’t been what Charlotte fans would’ve liked, but it’s a long season. At the time of typing this the Knights have won just one of their five games so far, with a mid-afternoon matchup today to wrap up the series with Gwinnett. The Knights will get a day off tomorrow before starting up another six-game series in Charlotte against the Norfolk Tides on Tuesday.
