Song of the Day: Beautiful Day

Beautiful Day by U2. Released in October of 2000 on U2’s tenth studio album All That You Can’t Leave Behind. Beautiful Day hit #1 on the charts in pretty much every European country, Australia, Canada and in the US it hit the top of the Alternative charts. For a band that started in the 80’s and had numerous hits, Beautiful Day might just be the band’s biggest song. It doesn’t get the radio play on classic rock stations, for obvious reasons, like the band’s 80s and 90s hits, but it’s still a fantastic song. This song also won a Grammy for song of the year and record of the year, whatever the difference is, but then then again the Grammy’s have no credibility whatsoever so who really cares. Seems like one of the few decisions the Grammy’s made that I could get behind.
