Hell in a Cell (2021) Predictions
We’re going to get to see a WWE PPV tonight and I think most people are more excited about fans coming back and what will possibly take place a month from now and beyond, but the card isn’t a bad one tonight. If you’re thinking to yourself that Hell in a Cell seems a little earlier this year, it’s because it is true. It usually happens every October, but they decided to shake things up and schedule for June this year. It will be the second Hell in a Cell PPV in the Thunderdome and hopefully the last. Also, I would like to say that the Hell in a Cell match on SmackDown was good, but why couldn’t they wait until Sunday? Hopefully we find thought out tonight and hopefully it wasn’t just a gimmick to get short-term viewership on Friday night. As of now, we have 6 matches on the card and I don’t know if they will add anything, but I think it will be sufficient. It looks like we’re getting two Cell matches and hopefully they live up to the hype. Here are my predictions for the show.
*Predicted winners are bolded
*Match Card is likely not in exact order
- Men’s Singles Match
Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn
Ever since their WrestleMania feud just a couple months ago, KO has gotten the better of Sami Zayn in nearly every turn. I think the tables turn tonight. I don’t know why this feud is still going on, because I thought we were done with it, but apparently not. I don’t have a lot to say about this match other than that though. Owens is the favorite at -270 and honestly, it seems a little high. I personally would take Sami Zayn and his +180-underdog status all day long.
- Men’s Singles Match
Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins
I think this match is definitely the toughest to predict and the odds reflect it. Cesaro is currently a -140 favorite over Rollins’s even odds. I’m going with Cesaro just because he has the momentum advantage over Rollins, but I honestly could make a case for both performers. It was announced that Edge will compete at SummerSlam and he likely won’t be competing for a belt of any sort, so I think the winner of this match will be on the fast track to a SummerSlam matchup with the Rated-R Superstar. If the rumors of a John Cena and Roman Reigns SummerSlam main event aren’t true, the winner of this match could be up for a Number One contender spot. This certainly will be a match with a lot of intrigue.
- Women’s Singles Match: RAW Women’s Championship
Rhea Ripley (C) vs. Charlotte Flair
If you have read any of my predictions articles since WrestleMania, then you would know that I have been very outspoken about Rhea Ripley as champion. Her reign has made no sense to me at all and honestly, I think I will predict her to lose ever time from here until she drops the belt. I have hated the way that have featured her on the main roster and they have honestly rushed her. I think people forget that she is only 24 years old. Don’t get me wrong, she is very talented, but NXT is a different animal than RAW or SmackDown. People have mentioned this in the past, but NXT fans literally love all of their performers. It is an extreme rarity that an NXT performer is disliked, needless to say hated. Ripley is supposed to be a heel, but I can’t buy in. It would be different if she was acting entitled because she was NXT’s “Chosen One”, but the gimmick is being played out like she actually earned her championship. Are we supposed to dislike her or not? It has been a confusing mess of a reign and Charlotte Flair is the perfect person to reset things with. Fans hate on Charlotte Flair for getting title shots without “earning” them, but at this point in her career, if she wants a title reign, she has earned a title reign in my book and if Rhea Ripley is in a similar situation in. a few years where she has a few title reigns, I will likely feel the same way. Ripley is a -210 favorite and Flair is a +145 underdog.
- Women’s Singles Match
Alexa Bliss vs. Shayna Baszler
Bliss is a huge -900 favorite tonight and I think she will likely win, but I have a feeling she will lose. This isn’t really a matchup of momentum and a win or loss for either competitor doesn’t affect them particularly, so I think they can easily pull the trigger on a somewhat shocking outcome. Baszler is listed at +500 and honestly, I wouldn’t feel bad at all putting some money down on her. All of this will come down to how much of Bliss’s energy and lifeforce comes from Lily. She said on Monday that Lily was taking a break, but will that be of any substance? We’ll find out, but I think Lily has a big impact on Bliss’s decisions and motives, so I think she will lose because of this.
- Women’s Hell in a Cell Match: SmackDown Women’s Championship
Bianca Belair (C) vs. Bayley
Belair is the biggest favorite on the card and I think that is just disrespectful to Bayley. I usually say this when I see such a huge difference in a matchup, but Bayley is the longest reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion. She is far from a slouch and I think she may have a legitimate shot tonight. I think Belair will win, but this could be a night full of shocks and despite this being such a lopsided matchup as far as odds are concerned, a title change here wouldn’t be a huge shock to me. Belair has -2000 odds and Bayley is at an interesting +750. I think this could be match of the night.
- Men’s Hell in a Cell Match: WWE Championship
Bobby Lashley (C) vs. Drew McIntyre
This is a last chance Hell in a Cell match, which means that if McIntyre loses, he won’t compete for the WWE Championship any more as long as Lashley is the champ. This feud has run its course and has been great, but it is time to move on. McIntyre has done a great job to solidify Lashley as a dominant champion and Lashley has been great in his reign. Lashley is a favorite at -370 and I think that is about right. This should be a great ending chapter of this feud and I’m interested to see what will be next for both guys. Most fans are speculating that Lashley and Brock Lesnar will face each other at SummerSlam and I could see that happening. I mentioned earlier that Edge is competing at SummerSlam, but his opponent is unknown. I think a matchup between he and McIntyre could steal the show.
