Will the John Cena Comeback Tour Start Tonight?

It’s Friday, and that means it is SmackDown night. We’re just a few days removed from Hell in a Cell and a lot of things in the WWE are going to be shifting towards the reintroduction of a live audience. On the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, John Cena mentioned that he will be back in the WWE and it will be a matter of when, not if.

There are a lot of rumors surrounding the possibility of a Roman Reigns/John Cena feud and I think this potential feud could start tonight. I haven’t heard any rumors of the possibility of Cena making an appearance tonight, but it all makes sense. Roman Reigns didn’t have a match at the Hell in a Cell PPV and that was a questionable move from the fan’s point of view. Could that be a sign of something? Or was it simply an issue of PPV time restraints? Who knows, but clearly there is something big in the works for the Roman Reigns storyline.

One reason that leads me to believe that Cena could show up on SmackDown tonight is simply because he will be promoting the film that he is starring in. F9: The Fast Saga opened in US theaters officially today and Cena is the main villain of the film. Assuming nothing is holding Cena back from making appearances in the WWE, I think signs point towards him jumping back into the ring as soon as possible.

Roman Reigns is promoted to be involved in a victory celebration. He defeated Rey Mysterio on SmackDown last week in a Hell in a Cell match. Who knows exactly what tonight’s celebration will consist of, but I know if he is holding an open challenge, Cena is definitely in play. At this point in his career, Cena is synonymous with gold and this is a match that a lot of fans want to see. If they give 2 months of a build, that is plenty of time to build blockbuster match, not to mention give more attention to what will be the blockbuster movie of the summer. It just makes perfect sense.

I have no inside information regarding this obviously and it is a total guess, but the fact that F9 is opening in theaters everywhere on the same night as SmackDown, and considering that the guy he is rumored to match up with is SmackDown’s top champion makes perfect sense to me.
