Song of the Day: Garden Party
I believe this is the first time that we have ever featured Ricky Nelson for Song of the Day. This song was written and produced by Nelson and released in 1972. Nelson, at this time, was going under the name Rick Nelson to give him an image change. Nelson grew up as a child star on The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet and was a late 50’s/early 60’s pop idol and after his 21st birthday, he wanted to shake that image and step out on his own. This particular song was written because he thought he was getting booed at a concert in Madison Square Garden, but it turns out the booing was from some other issue. Nevertheless, he turned it into a big hit. This was his last big hit and it reached number 6 on the Billboard charts. Sit back, relax, and listen to this 70’s tune from Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band. I hope you all have a great Sunday.
