Song of the Day: Midnight on the Stormy Deep

Happy Friday folks! As you all know, I have been following Billy Strings and his music for quite sometime now and a couple weeks ago he released a single with Bluegrass legend Del McCoury called, “Midnight on the Stormy Deep”. Apparently Bill Monroe and Doc Watson have performed it and I think it is awesome that Billy got Del in on this one. While researching this song…it has been a struggle in finding who actually wrote it. It could have been a semi-modern song maybe during the World Wars…but I think its older than that. It truly is a folk legend song and if anyone out there knows when and who wrote it, let me know! My guess would be Pre-Civil War or during that time.
