Money in the Bank (2021) Predictions
We are finally here! It has been a long journey, but we finally are going to have a full-capacity PPV. The card looks great and there seems to be a lot of potential surprises in line over the next few weeks. I’m not expecting any big title changes, but I think there is potential for some belts to change hands. We’ll see what happens tonight, but it seems surreal that fans will be back. Wrestling is so difficult to do in a setting without fans, but somehow, the WWE has managed to make it work for over nearly the last year and a half. We’ll get to see some new briefcase holders and those should be interesting. I said it isn’t likely that a big title will change hands, but we know to look out for one of those surprise cash-ins at any moment, so we’ll see. I’ll not waste any more time, here are my predictions for Money in the Bank.
*Predicted winners are bolded
*Match card is likely not in exact order
- Men’s Tag Team Match: SmackDown Tag Team Championship
Rey and Dominik Mysterio (C) vs. The Usos
This match could obviously go one of two ways. I think we will see new tag champs here. I can’t believe this match isn’t going to be in the main show, but the RAW tag title match is. This story has been a lot better than the RAW tag match and I get they want the crowd fired up going into the main show, but seriously? Like I said earlier, anything can happen at Money in the Bank. We can see feuds end in an instant and new feuds formed just as quickly. There is a lot of things moving in place for SummerSlam, but despite being in the kickoff show, this could be a pivotal match. I don’t have odds for the match, but I think the odds would favor with a title change.
- Men’s Tag Team Match: RAW Tag Team Championship
AJ Styles and Omos (C) vs. The Viking Raiders
I was surprised to see that they odds in this one was so far apart. The champs are currently -900 favorites. I don’t think The Viking Raiders really have enough momentum to win today, but I wouldn’t be shocked at all to see them win. If you’re willing to bet, I would take the Raiders 5/1 odds all day long. I don’t think they’ll win, but those odds are great for something that I could see happening. There isn’t a lot of buzz surrounding this match, but I think it has potential to be really good.
- Women’s Singles Match: RAW Women’s Championship
Rhea Ripley (C) vs. Charlotte Flair
I don’t have a clue what will happen here, but I think we are all patiently waiting for Becky Lynch to return and claim the title that is rightfully hers. I no longer have much interest in this feud and they haven’t captured the lightning in a bottle like they did last year at WrestleMania. I say this every time, but I simply cannot buy into Ripley’s title reign. She didn’t earn it at all and most of the title defense finishes have been very wonky. Ripley is the favorite yet again at -160, but I’m interested to see what happens here.
- Men’s Singles Match: WWE Championship
Bobby Lashley (C) vs. Kofi Kingston
This match has a lot of potential and I think it will simply be a time-buying feud for something bigger. I think that is a shame, but Kofi Kingston is a great opponent for Lashley. Lashley is a huge favorite at -2000 and I don’t think he’ll lose this particular match, but could he lose the title tonight? Possibly. Anything can happen at Money in the Bank. I think Lashley wins, but MITB opens us up for a lot of the unexpected.
- Men’s Singles Match: Universal Championship
Roman Reigns (C) vs. Edge
I can’t remember when Roman’s odds were this low in a match. He’s still a big favorite at -650, but I think we may be seeing Roman’s reign start taking some hits. Honestly, the way that this story has played out so far, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Edge win tonight. I’m not expecting it, but I think it could happen. Regardless of what happens, this could be an all-time classic. Both of these guys don’t miss their marks. It is incredible to see what Edge is doing in the ring. He’s arguably the best he has ever been inside the ring. There’s a lot of rumors about these guys moving forward, but we’ll see how things play out.
- Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Alexa Bliss vs. Liv Morgan vs. Zelina Vega vs. Natalya vs. Tamina vs. Asuka vs. Naomi vs. Nikki Ash
Obviously, they could go a lot of different ways in this match, but the obvious approach seems to be the one they’re going with. Alexa Bliss is the slight favorite here, but she doesn’t need the briefcase or championships for that matter to be relevant. With that being said, there are a lot of women in this match with a lot of momentum. I honestly thought they were leaving the last spot open for a potential surprise, but they announced it was going to be Tamina out of the blue. Alexa Bliss has the most potential moving forward with the briefcase, but as far as momentum is concerned, Nikki Ash or Liv Morgan are good choices. Nikki is probably my dark horse pick at +500, but I would really love to see Liv Morgan get a chance with the briefcase. She has a lot to prove and I think she has a lot of potential. We’ll see how it unfolds, but these matches are always interesting.
- Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Big E vs. Seth Rollins vs. Riddle vs. Drew McIntyre vs. John Morrison vs. Ricochet vs. Kevin Owens vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
There is a lot of talent in this one and I think the match will be incredible, but I would be surprised if the winner isn’t Big E or Drew McIntyre. There was a reason for The New Day going their separate ways and that was to make Big E a singles star. A MITB win would do just that. He has proven week in and week out that he is capable of big the face of a brand and he is so likable. I don’t see how anyone could dislike Big E. They were teasing on SmackDown that Rollins could be the favorite, but I think that is just a swerve. My dark horse pick is definitely Drew McIntyre. He has the 4th highest odds at +500 and I’m thinking in the back of mind that they could reward him for all of the unfortunate timing of the pandemic. He had his big moment at Royal Rumble in 2020, but He didn’t get the big moment at WrestleMania and he had to lead the WWE through the pandemic. If McIntyre wins, look for him to go after Roman Reigns and the Universal belt. Other than that, there are a lot of great aerial performers and I think it should be a very fun match to watch.
