Song of the Day: Loser

Loser by Beck. Loser is a song that I feel like most everyone has heard at some point in their life, and if you haven’t ever heard it before…….well welcome to the weirdest song of all time. The way the song came about is pretty cool though. Apparently when Beck was starting out as an artist playing local coffeeshops and clubs, and the audience wouldn’t always be fully tuned in to his performance, he was known to burst out and start playing in a jokingly manner. Just coming up with ridiculous songs to try and get the audience’s attention, and apparently Loser is an extension of some of that playing. Those disinterested audiences ended up leading to a top 10 hit a few years later in 1994 as Loser hit 10 on the US charts, also hit top 10 in Australia, Canada, Sweden, Iceland, and even hit number 1 in Norway. And ended up being a song that launched a career.
